Shift point for Xiongda 2 speed hub with Lishui controller

My hub shifts at ~6.6 miles/hour when it is set for a 16" wheel. That seems about right. But it shifts at ~7.8 miles/hour when it is set for a 26" wheel, which is way too slow. You would think that the programmers would have tried to pick the same rotational velocity, no matter what wheel...

    Biktrix stunner reviews

spinningmagnets, follow your posts and you seem to be the most knowledgeable w.r.t. IGH stuff. Do you have knowledge of actual factory steady use torque rating for the Sturmey Archer's? Lots of good anecdotal stuff here, but the setup I'm researching could twist the SA 5 speed at ~45 ft*lb +...

    Biktrix stunner reviews

Thanks Deafcat, and it sure looks good. But I'm concerned with the torque rating of the Sturmey Archer hub as twisted by the (strong) mid drive and hard pedaling. I have asked both Biktrix and Sturmey Archer for the IGH torque rating (input and/or output), and Biktrix for the output mid drive...

Interested in the step thru with the integral rear hub. No show rooms, so any owner input would be appreciated.

Best geared hub motor for slow climbing

You don't have to get into a situation of losing momentum while shifting. My Lishui controller, and presumably others let you keep your motor in low gear with the push of a button. While on the hill you just go low and slow. When you crest you return to auto mode and speed up.

Best geared hub motor for slow climbing

Many thanks, amberwolf. I just started a new topic to get the very answer you provided. I'll pursue it with the vendor you referred me to. I'll try and check out this forum more often, so I'm giving instead of just taking from it. Appreciate the help, aw....

Torque Sensing Pedal Assist for Xiongda 2 speed electric hub?

I have my 48 volt Xiongda 2 speed hub laced to a 26" front hub, on a mountain bike. I am using the Lishui controller and have installed the cadence pedal assist on my crank, along with a thumb throttle. All works well, including my shifting. But I would like to replace my cadence senor with a...

Best geared hub motor for slow climbing

Just ran across your post. Coincidentally, I checked with Xiangda on the availability of a torque sensing crank attachment for my 48 volt 2 speed front hub yesterday. Not available. But I'm lazy, so I like my cadence sensor...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

It was an honest question, and the arithmetic is close enough for him to be asking honestly. Coupled with dual pedalers, it would be adequate. But for our tandem - a Bikee2 recumbent, we wanted to laze over any St. Louis hill, 2 aboard + groceries, (well over 400#), no pedaling. We laced to...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

"while bonnie wrote me the motor is 12 km/h max!' querkus, I think I would read her explain more closely. Not even close. Are you sure that she was not describing the shift point for a certain voltage and wheel lacing? Ask her for the performance tables and graphs they keep on all voltage...

Did you use your wooden plank method? Even though I got away with my steel fork spread, if I had seen/conceived of your method, that's what I would have done. I learn more from you....

Sturmey Archer 3 speed torque and rotational velocity rating

d8veh, FYI, here's the thread I started for the e mini bike that is the subject of THIS thread. It includes some pix, and some boring arithmetic. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=89188

Sturmey Archer 3 speed torque and rotational velocity rating

Thx d8veh, but if I could make this fantasy come true, then I would connect a simple 3 speed shift on my left handle bar, and throttle off to shift. Since my Nuvinci speed sensor is on my output, it would see less r/m, and would auto shift to my desired motor speed - ~350 r/m - automatically...

Sturmey Archer 3 speed torque and rotational velocity rating

Thx Chalo, very thoughtful. I thought of this conceptually, but you did the arithmetic for me. If I figured out a way to MacGyver one directly onto my hub, the MOST torque I would apply would be ~55-60 ft.*lb, so that would work. That's 11 ft*lb from the motor, with 27/14 of it into my NV hub...

Sturmey Archer 3 speed torque and rotational velocity rating

First off, sorry for asking about this on a thread for 5 speed hubs. I'll erase that post. What are the actual, continuous duty, torque and rotational velocity ratings of the various Sturmey Archer 3 speed hubs? I've looked everywhere I can think of. Of course lots of "These are strong MF's"...

Manual 2 speed hub for mini bike, without jackshaft?

Thanks, Chalo, but that doesn't really get me there. Yes, I have the tool to remove the 171 freewheel. but it goes on the input sprocket. If you click the link on my first post you can see that I am using the N171 as a transmission, not as a hub. I have it suspended on steel bars. The output...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

"My reply from Bonnie gave these power options "Rated 24V250W/36V250W/48V300W". And 100/110/135/145/155mm depending on front/back thread-on/lock-on v/disk brake." Buk, you got more complete info from Bonnie than I did. NOT a diss on Bonnie. But to answer your question, what I called the...

Manual 2 speed hub for mini bike, without jackshaft?

There are 7 pictures of my bike and its innards in the link from my original post. As well as a complete description of it. And yes, I want a "second shift". Actually, more like the analog I described, a "transfer case", a "high/low", a "dual range" - get it? It's about as clear as I can be...

Manual 2 speed hub for mini bike, without jackshaft?

No responses, which I understand. I've been looking. So how'z about the next, best thing. Has anyone installed 2 rear sprockets, with enough spacing between them, and the ability to slide them back and forth, ~1/2"? Then, run a chain idler to accommodate the extra chain from the smaller...

Manual 2 speed hub for mini bike, without jackshaft?

I'm a victim of dumb luck. I was so successful in mating a 1 HP BLDC motor, and a Nuvinci 171 auto shift to a rescue mini bike frame that I have a real, really efficient, hill climber. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=89188 But I'm greedy, and want some more top speed...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

All true, but I think X screwed themselves with nylon gear problems, clutch problems, and bad lubing, when their line was first offered. Between help from Bonnie and folks on these fora I've been happy so far with the performance of my 48 volt, "skinny" version, But folks don't to take the...

E Mini Bike with NuVinc 171 Auto Trans

Good for you. ASAP, please provide us with some specifics. FYI, I am in a VERY small minority by including ANY kind of multi speed transmission. If you know what you want, hill climbing or speed, you can get by without one. But I wanted SOME speed, LOTS of hill climbing ability, and a motor...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

Good to know. Do you have any details on the "revised" sun gear? FYI, I have not been running my front hub equipped Bikee E2 tandem recumbent lately because I...

E Mini Bike with NuVinc 171 Auto Trans

Thanks, but it was hard for me to figure out where to put everything. And I'm NOT dissing traditional 4 cycle/clutch builds. Even with torqueverters, they're simple and fun FYI, acquiring a Nuvinci 171 Developers Kit might be hard, but not impossible. They are burlier than the modern...
