    qs 1000w builds

Hi Guys, this motor looks great. I'm look for a replacement for my cyclone 3000. I'm running it at 72v and am having overheating problems. This motor looks much better built. I wondered if someone could confirm the weight. The spec sheets suggest around 7kg which seems a bit much? Do you think...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I've had my cyclone for a a while now and wanted to share my experiences with throttles and controllers. I run a 20s4p 72v nominal battery pack. - stock - loads of power but the power delivery is very jerky, the controller is large and the throttle is cheap and poorly made. - I upgraded to a...

Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

You could do kits, some youtube videos and have a few threads on forums to address support. That might help avoid onerous support. Still very keen :-)

Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

This looks awesome. I'm super interested. A polished product would be great but I'd be happy to pay for kit that I had to solder up if that reduced time to market. Got a bit of time on my hands at the moment

Specialized Enduro 2014 Cyclone 3000 build

Hi Motorman, Thanks for your kind words, good to find someone thinking along the same lines. Actually I built this for offroad and it's absolutely mega. I ride it like a stole it and it seems to be holding up quite nicely I did have a 30 odd tooth sprocket connecting the crank to rear wheel and...

Hi All, Just wanted to contribute something with a few words and pictures of my cyclone 3000w/ specialized enduro 2014 build. new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Really sorry but I'm flat out with work so don't have time right now. I took loads of pictures and will do a proper build thread soon. The motor mounts attach to the crank same as the stock mount but also attach to the rear suspension mounts. I used longer bolts and spacers so the suspension...

Car replacement in London/Other Cold Weather

Lived in London for more than ten years. It is extremely congested. If you are involved in an accident with a non legal high power ebike they will crucify you. I wouldn't even consider it. I'd go 100% legal for the commute and high power for the weekend. Also the public transport is pretty good.

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

I've wrapped the batteries in loads of capton tape and heatshrinked. I'm going spray the cases black inside and out as well. I really hope it 'll work well - I've spent so much time on it. I'll post a full build thread when I've got it going. Thank you to you and everyone else for all your help.

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

Updated my profile, sorry about that. The surface area of where my clamps touch the frame is 12mm (width). I was thinking of making the sleeves at least 4 times wider, maybe the maximum allowed by the space available. I know your're saying re the lack of reported failures, I've spent a bit of...

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

I'm hoping the batteries will be ok as they're enclosed in a 3mm thick aluminium boxes. I am a keen off road enduro motorcyclist and crashing is one of the things I do best! Hence they obsession with durability. Here's a pic of my battery boxes https://imgur.com/a/00UlI

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

The thing is the batteries have a combined weight of maybe 5kg. If I clout a rock a speed the forces will be significant given the downtube is only around 1mm thick and a don't want to ruin my nice mtb - hence the cogitation:-) I like the idea, unfortunately its pretty difficult to cut hold of...

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

I think that the frame would perhaps dent and then maybe break at a later date once weakened. As far a I'm aware mtb frames gain a lot of their strength from their shape. I'm waiting to see what the steel looks like when it arrives, I thought I might use multiple layers if it looks a bit weak...

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

Unfortunately the plywood is not going to be strong enough as each battery pack weighs around 2.5 kg

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

I like the fibre glass idea, although i'm going to try the steel first as it's already on its way. Thanks for the hose clap suggestion. I think that might be a great way to bend the steel to right shape. I thought I might even use a couple of layers (0.7mm +0.7mm) to add even more strength

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

Yeah, i've used about 2 football pitches worth of plywood trying loads of different combinations :-) I think the clearances are ok - fingers crossed. What do you think of my sleeve idea? I have ordered some 0.7mm thick steel sheet from ebay. I plan to bend it round the down tube creating a...

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

It's fine the battery box is no wider than the cyclone - doesn't interfere.... I did loads of testing

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

Thanks for all your suggestions, I've uploaded another couple of pics to illustrate what i'm trying to do. The big picture is I'm a keen amateur off road enduro motorcyclist and thought I'd build an offroad electric mtb for training. I've tried to over engineer my project as im expecting many...

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

As far as I'm aware araldite is a brand name for a type of epoxy resin. Much harder than jbweld. I google araldite hardness and it's very hard. Really like the balloon idea - thanks for that

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

Anyone any idea how thick mtb aluminium downtubes are? Would 2mm be about right?

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

I was thinking of putting tape between the araldite and the frame to make removal easier. I thought perhaps rubber/ and or leather wouldnt be so great at distributing forces. A high speed off with these might result in a dented frame?

Araldite as filler between frame and bracket?

Hi Guys, I hoping to get comments on the above, I have made some brackets to hold a battery enclosure to the downtube of my specialized enduro 2014. Unfortunately for me the down tube is an irregular oval shape. By hook and by crook I've managed to make my bracket quite close and was planning...

    CA V3.1 Beta information
