18AH, 48v, SLA, max charge rate?

BUT, doing this with all the batteries in series will kill them REALLY fast. fast charging is already bad for lead but you also dont give the cells the time to naturally balance out. that will result in a major inbalance in a battery and it will take your whole set out in just months after a...

18AH, 48v, SLA, max charge rate?

Then the maximum charge rate is 2.5A? I'm not needing to treat these with kid gloves, yet I don't wan to ruin them with a few charges, as I have nearly 1000 18650's for some good battery builds, I just haven't gotten around to building them. IOW, this is temporary.

18AH, 48v, SLA, max charge rate?

I have 4 12V 18AH SLA's wired together for 48v and there are times when I need a faster charge. I'm using a 2.5A charger now and wanted to add another to that for 5A total charge rate. So I guess I'm asking 2 questions here...what's the max charge rate for this battery (in case I want to add...

    Throttle wiring

I may do that. Already I have had to come back here for helpful info, even things I had posted and forgot/couldn't find anywhere else, so I can see how a thread like that would be handy. Thanks for all the info on the 1500w controller and the throttle, it'll come in handy. I'm really not...

    Throttle wiring

Took the both you to get me thinking but it's fixed now. For some very odd reason I did solder the green to the red wire after all and they don't belong together. I recall testing by touching the wires because, as I said, I pulled them out adjacently when I removed the throttle so I didn't see...

    Throttle wiring

Here is the thread I mentioned. I doubt anyone cares to read up but if you should want to see something of the connections and why they are as they are, the thread is here https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=82176&p=1206882&hilit=throttle#p1206911 and I don't see that the...

    Throttle wiring

Simple throttle have 3 wires. Black is ground. Red is 5v from the controller. The third wire is the return voltage to the controller that changes as the throttle is used. That sounds about right.I tested the red @ 4.5V and that is helpful to know just what goes where. Twisting throttle wires...

    Throttle wiring

What it sounds like is that it was wired with all three wires correctly on the original controller before moving the throttle, then after moving it the wires were accidentally soldered together isntead of separately, and that would cause your problem. No, it was soldered before. I questioned...

    Throttle wiring

So at this point, you had all three wires of the throttle wired correctly to the three wires from the controller? Yes, correctly, as in the bike ran fine before I stared making the changes...had 20 or 30mi on it. Which color on the throttle went to which color on the controller? Throttle =...

    Throttle wiring

I had to add to/reposition some things on my handlebars so I could get more on them and after putting things back together I get no throttle. I tried the throttle just before I did this and all was well. when I moved the thumb throttle to put it on the other side, I tried to do it without...

    Fuse individual cells or not?

I may look into the wire checker. I ordered the balance cable yesterday, another long wait from China...I'm so cheap. I also recently go my Capacity Controller in, something I just picked up because they were cheap and they will balance, as well as other things with a nice big digital read out...

    Fuse individual cells or not?

Thanks, for the verification, and I'll check that out. For future reference, one can usually just go to the thread and copy/past the URLfrom the address bar to link up the thread. My cells are from all new, some old stock, Laptop packs, and much better than a year of tedious ordering off ebay...

    Fuse individual cells or not?

That's a big help, and thanks so much for your reply, JJ, as well as for getting the pics up for me. OK then, I didn't know all that...you just made the fuse decision and easy one, done deal. I'm using the 34 gauge fuse wire suggested by the youtube guy, something, something "powerwall" ...

    Fuse individual cells or not?

Are there sometimes reasons when it's more advisable to fuse individually and times it's not so necessary? Or is it a good idea all the time? Odds of problem without? Why not just the one main fuse? Or what will a the main fuse not protect? I also wanted to mention what I'm doing so you all can...

    2 chargers in paralel...cool?

Thank you, Bill. Actually These are 2 packs in parallel so i can put one on each side of the bike for a good balance and all, and they can just as easily be charged separately. So from what you say I'd be better off to charge each half of the pack separately and I'll get a faster charge...

    2 chargers in paralel...cool?

I can get 2X2a 36V (42v) chargers for less than $20, while the 4a is $50. I already have a 2a, so any reason I can't buy another (they should be exactly the same charger) and put them together in parallel to make a 4a charger? Can I charge this 36v around 26AH Li-ion battery, at 4a without...

    couple of battery pack questions.

I set the output to 54v, but didn't know what to do with the other two pots, so I just adjusted them to the right a few times to hopefully not restrict anything. I just put the converter in a box for protection (plenty of room for air flow) and plugged everything up. All I can say at this point...

    couple of battery pack questions.

OK, and thanks so much. I said I'd have time in the next day or so, but there is no hurry at all for you getting back here with more info. I'll find the time eventually, and am just glad for the help, at your convenience.

    couple of battery pack questions.

Wturber, I'll have some time for this in the next day or two, and I need to know what value too set the current at for my bike. Also, as I mentioned I'm just not good with this stuff/multi meter, and it's not too much trouble, could you please explain how to set the current, and the Low Input...

    sending a private message

I just sent a private message and it shows as in my Outbox, not in the Inbox, but no option that I see to send it, and no mention if there is a lag/if it will go out automatically or what? Kind of confusing. Do I just wait and it will send or do I have to do something manually to make that...

    couple of battery pack questions.

OK, that helps a lot, and thanks a bunch. I'll wait for the link to the other info you posted if you can find it, then read up there before I go any further. Just hope the pot I replaced works. I had ordered two different values on those as recommended by another site, and one of the sellers...

    couple of battery pack questions.

wturber, I replaced the broken pot, and have it set to 51V output. I don't recall all we discussed, but I do recall trying not to overload myself so I could get some of it behind me before I frustrated myself with to much info. If the info is here already I can try to find it, but would running...

    couple of battery pack questions.

I may need to start another thread, or even go to a different site but I'll give this a shot here first. I need to order the broken potentiometer for my converter. I can solder it to the board, no problem, but that's about as far as my knowledge goes in this area. I bought these, no big loss...

    couple of battery pack questions.

Good idea on using the saddlebags. I always though that would work well with the led acids with the center of gravity being a huge issue...hey, get them low enough and the bike would almost stand up on it's own :). But in the end, the SLA battery weight for these 1000w bikes are just to heavy...
