    Xenforo conversion thread

So, I noticed that I cannot find any of my posts from 2017 until now after the conversion. I went to the archive and see them there. Didn't notice anyone else complaining about missing posts, but just figured I'd chime in since I noticed something.

    QS 3000w midmotor

Where is the best place to source these from? Been a while since I was in the market, and the shipping is just insane. Is there any US domestic stock of them?

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Yes, there is a thin layer of paste between the metal bar and case. Just XT-90 anti spark... the xt90s actually work alright on this controller, the spark you get is small enough to not cause damage. That is not true for pretty much any other controller I own.

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Exactly. I flipped the end caps upside down so the mounting tabs didn't get in the way of the flat back side of the case being mounted flush to the heatsink, and put a bead of the silicone around the edges when putting it back together. Did my best at sealing the wires, but it will absolutely...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Small update, I have been tweaking this controller slightly to see if I could make it work for my boat usage, and I think I have found some success. I am still waiting for the damn bluetooth adapter to be able to do some data logging, but I worked on improving the cooling first and foremost...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Back to the topic of using this controller with an MXUS hub... I attached the XML motor/app config I am using right now in case anyone sees anything obvious there. I manually tried setting the resistance values to the known measured values for this motor, tried playing with observer gain, etc...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

So I started digging into the ADC code for vesc last night. I don't think I like it. I am in the process of writing a new "app" (adc_new...help me come up with a better name) that will work a little more consistently with how ebikes are used to, but also configurable enough to cover all the...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Controller is cutting out. Agreed that 52 phase amps is way too low for that motor, but it would simply throttle down into some error state if I was just the slightest bit too hard on the throttle. I am waiting on BT dongle so I can actually see what's happening. I also wired up the cruise...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I set it according to the FOC calibration value at 52a. I tried higher values originally (70a, 80a, 100a), but I kept getting cutouts when accelerating and when regen kicked in. I could probably kick it slightly higher than 52a and not get cutouts, but haven't had time to mess with it yet. Was...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Just tried it on my mountain bike with a MXUS 3k Turbo and 14s pack. Not enough amps to handle it well! It's just too small for that motor to drive it well unless already spinning fast. Once at speed, it has a decent amount of power. At a stand still, it's maybe 100w of help.

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Worked well for me so far on both sensorless and hall sensor motors. Didn't test regen because I was using it in a boat. Was running it with a 20s 80ah battery. There *may* be better controllers for your use case if you are planning on only running 36v though. Protects itself from blowing up...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I get the sentiment, and I personally release most of my code under MIT because it fits better with my philosophy than GPL. But the disregard for other people's work when discussing open source projects really gets to me. There is a reason people choose the licenses they do, and I get that...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Well that's quite good to hear if true. Also surprised to hear they're making a revision so quickly... I just got a couple of these controllers in over the weekend. Onto the actual topic: I tested them on my electric inflatable boat. Flashed with jaykup's firmware and setup nice and easy...

    Under 2500 USD - 65+kph - 50+km range - Electric Enduro Bike

I just had my first ride on my bike yesterday after getting it all laced up. Currently have it limited to ~50a battery at 18s. The wheel does not want to stay on the ground, it's pretty insane to see how much more power this has compared to my old 9c at the same voltage / wattage. You'll have...

    Under 2500 USD - 65+kph - 50+km range - Electric Enduro Bike

Yup, just ordered a 17" moped rim for a MXUS v3 turbo (3t), and 105mm spokes. As soon as the rim comes in, i'll get it laced up. Seems like a no brainer to go this way, with the extra strength you get from the moped components.

Wow that's some terrible shipping mark up. I had $12 shipping when I ordered in the US.

Diy 18650 4s battery pack [How to charge, how to build?]

A BMS should provide you with balancing, which would allow you to use a bulk charger, and the BMS would simply balance it if it saw any cell voltages differ from the others. You shouldn't need to use a specific balancing charger for this.

And I got my flatpack2 from here for $50: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELTEK-FLATPACK2-48V-RECTIFIER-241115-001-/292174710961?hash=item4406f848b1:g:1ocAAOSwuxFY0eNM

Bulk charging via digital DC-DC boost Minghe BST-900W

Well i've been using my BST-900 with my meanwell s-350-27 for the past couple weeks with everything working fine. I just got my Eltek Flatpack2 in, and I made a makeshift wiring harness to plug into it using some flattened bullet connectors and epoxy. Plugged that bad boy in and it worked first...

Bulk charging via digital DC-DC boost Minghe BST-900W

I decided to use this setup for charging my 18s 32ah multistar pack. I ordered 2x of both of the models listed in this thread so I could test things out. I already blew one of the BST-900's somehow, I had it at maybe 600w, hit the voltage up slightly, and it blew the fuse, and took out the fet...

    Programming a KH324-FS-1 infinion controller

Alright, I finally got some JST connectors in, hacked up my old programming cable from 2010 into something that should work with the EB3 controllers. I installed XPD, and used the EB3 profile, was able to both download the current configuration, as well as flash a new one. It worked perfectly...

too long battery wires will kill controllers

While I agree with the sentiment of your post, I think the tone could use a little work. Especially with L4P, it's been a while since i've been active, but he had contributed an absolute ton to the knowledge pool for ebikes when I was active. You're just as much able to do these measurements...

    Mounting options for lipo pack

Should also add that I have a RC charger to make sure they're balanced every once and a while... though the last pack I built (a Konion 14s 20p pack) didn't need to be balanced once in the ~3 years I had it.

    Mounting options for lipo pack

Honestly, not really. They're just on the current bike I have available. I can buy any other bike my heart desires that would fit them better, however the bike is not the issue, the issue is just finding a triangle bag large enough. If I really felt up to it I could make my own. I'm just busy...
