    Thanks for the comments. My previous bike had a mid motor so I was used to slowing down in hills, but I can see from these comments that this is not a good strategy with a hub drive.

    I don’t know how to check phase current. I’ll look at the voltage while it’s happening see if it’s sagging. If so, I’ll drop down the max current.

    I bought a couple of bikes with these motors. I like them, very torquey (but not particularly fast) which is what I was looking for. It’s on a 20” fat tire bike. The controller is a KT rated for 15A with 30A peak. 48V battery rated for 30A continuous. I did have a problem with the setup...
