Ebike riding with a speaker and lots and lots of lights?

Personally, I find people playing music on bike/nature paths or in the woods(particularly camping) to be obnoxious. Those are times when I think a lot of people(most?) are trying to enjoy a little peace in their lives. Certainly not all, but a lot. Someone coming along with music going ruins...

IGH’s (Internally Geared Hub’s) - Sturmey Archer, Shimano, Enviolo, Kindernay, Rohloff

Approximately what top speed should one expect using the 48/52v, 750w Bafang BBS02 and a Sturmey 3sp hub? I’m not quite certain based on the article linked above - would hard acceleration from a stop break the hub in the easier gear?

Is there a "best" cheapo ebike build kit?

Thanks everyone for the conversation. I’m still reading along. As mentioned by someone else, I’m interested in the rear drive mostly due to the weather. The last thing I want is a front drive wheel spinning out in the snow mid-turn. 😬 I need to read up more to confirm, but it seems like I can...

Is there a "best" cheapo ebike build kit?

Even working at a bike shop there's no way I'd come Close to the price of DIY, so obviously there's that. $1,200 on sale when I'm looking for a $250 kit? Most of them also don't have throttles, only pedal assist. And not as fun or capable as even cheap DIY in most cases.

Is there a "best" cheapo ebike build kit?

If only they were rear wheels. :( Thanks for the links, though! I'll have to start looking around for a rear wheel for cheap. Didn't realize that was a thing.

Is there a "best" cheapo ebike build kit?

I'll definitely look into this. Then maybe I could figure out a smaller controller. That was the main complaint I had with my last cheapo kit was a fairly large controller and nowhere good to mount it. Didn't know I could get a wheel that cheaply. If this is just the hub, I don't know that it...

Is there a "best" cheapo ebike build kit?

I'm a bike mechanic in a shop, so resources regarding use of a proper bike shop, studded tires(already have), ability to wire it up and build it properly, etc, aren't an issue. I plan on using cinder blocks to make a little spot to charge the battery in. The battery will be either in my...

Is there a "best" cheapo ebike build kit?

I'm about to build another ebike. I figure a cheapo kit where I can take the battery off and leave the bike in the bike shed is my best bet. I can't bring the bike into my new apartment, and I just want something to jump on, push a throttle, and be to work in 10 minutes a couple miles away when...

Need a video of a lipo fire

Eh. People are too rude and self-centered to regulate themselves with things like drones and speaker-phone in public areas. I say regulate away in this case.

Trying to understand controllers and high rpm small wheels...

I've only built an ebike from a kit before, so I didn't have to work out which controller to use. I was reading something on the Grin website about using a controller with a higher eRPM on a smaller wheel. Now that I'm doing a completely cobbled together project, and with small scooter wheels at...

A Couple Newbie Questions About Building An E-Scooter

I live in a house these days, so no need to worry about lugging up and down stairs. I would actually just park it in the garage and take the battery inside to charge. This would primarily just be for commuting to work, so just once per day dealing with charging too. I was thinking about just...

A Couple Newbie Questions About Building An E-Scooter

Just based on a couple websites, they say the scooter is 23lbs or 25lbs depending on which site you want to go on. That's lighter than converting a full suspension MTB, which would be the option if converting a bike. Then you're talking 30lbs or more. The scooter can also get away with a...

A Couple Newbie Questions About Building An E-Scooter

I'm looking to build a small E-vehicle to get around town mostly on bike paths and side streets and have been thinking about doing a scooter rather than a bike this time. I like the idea of the smaller size and weight. I was thinking of using a 20" wheel platform. I know I at least want a disk...

    E-bike or E-motorcycle?

I was under the impression that velomobiles were pretty fast, and basically a trike with an aerodynamic body over them. Am I mistaken, or is there something that makes them different and better at high speed stability?

    E-bike or E-motorcycle?

Glad you posted this. An e-trike was actually on my mind the more I thought about the build. I think it could be a good option in the winter due to the ability to add a large fairing to keep me warmer in freezing temps. Do you think an e-trike would feel stable at 30-35mph on a gravel bike...

Old GT Full Suspension - The Perfect Road Build Platform?

Thanks for the link. My last bike was on a mid-2000s Trek Fuel frame. While better than most modern FS bikes, it still didn't have a ton of space. I'm not sure how big of a battery I could fit in there.

    eZee vs MAC? Your thoughts?

That's gonna be a big battery to hang on a seat post rack. Make sure you have a hell of a seat post, and a sturdy rack. Maybe do a custom job? I had a rack rated for 20lbs with a little 36v 12ah battery on it and it snapped after a couple months. I could only imagine your battery at Moab is...

Is It OK To Leave The Bike Outside In Winter?

If you don't mind my asking, where do you live? I've travelled to a couple different places to live now, in search of nice people and nice weather year round. I will most definitely be including a drip loop. And the battery will be pulled anytime it's going to drop below 50 degrees at night. I...

Ooo. That mid-90s FSR looks promising too. Thanks for posting!

Is It OK To Leave The Bike Outside In Winter?

I know it's bad to leave the battery out in the cold. Does it matter if you take the battery off of the bike each day and leave the bike itself out in an unheated garage, and in the morning bring the battery out, pop it on the bike, and go? I'm moving to a place without a heated place to store...

Old GT Full Suspension - The Perfect Road Build Platform?

I don't have the GT yet, but getting a suitable frame is something I'm willing to invest my time and effort into. So far I'm at the stage of finding the best platform to build on(within reason, monetarily). Then I'll move onto the motor selection, figure out/build battery, and select controller...

Old GT Full Suspension - The Perfect Road Build Platform?

Since the v-brake would only be in the rear, with a nice hydraulic disk front, I think it would be fine. A v-brake will easily lock a rear wheel if need be. It's hard for me to tell very well from the picture, but the Specialized seems like it might still have a fairly small main triangle. It...

Old GT Full Suspension - The Perfect Road Build Platform?

In my research/planning of a build to do ~35mph and long distances on bike paths, roads, and gravel rail-trails, it seems like one of these old GT full suspension bikes would be perfect. There's no need for long suspension travel if not off-roading, but I figure some rear suspension would be...

    Setting up dual drivetrain ebike

Mid Drive Hub Motor Media Group https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=38553&hilit=media With modern bafang style mid-drives available, is there any benefit to using a hub motor as a mid-drive rather than one of those?
