Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

As said above 72V is perfect for getting more torque while at the same time keeping your motor cooler. With 14,4V more than stock battery (72V-57,6V) the motor (kv of ~84 rev/ Volt) runs ~1210 unloaded rpm faster which you can now gear down to the same top speed you had with 16s stock battery...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Because my bike only runs around 75 kp/h without fw and the last 10 kp/h are really weak in terms of acceleration. FW kicks in way before nominal rpm is reached so you can compensate this deficit. 500A phase current, 288A battery current, 20700W of max power (but only with full battery). On the...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Be careful if you use an aftermarket controller such as Nucular or BAC regarding the field weakening. I have demagnetised my magnets with Nuc 24F and 20s15p VTC6 combination last summer when going max speed for around 10 seconds. Temperature from sensor never exceeded 98° celsius so the magnets...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Has anyone measured the power output of the USB-plug from th Sur Ron? It says 5V 2,4A on it. If so it would be enough to power an additional 10W LED on the handlebar without mounting the associated 1S3P batterybox.

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Pulling temporarily more than the "not tripping" 90A is possible. I tested my stock battery with short bursts up to 120A. If this load is within 5-6 seconds and the BMS is not triggered by the temps it's possible to pull that amount. BUT I would prefer riding a safe, failproof system with a...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

@Offroader Is this how you drive around every day or was it just a picture after installation of the nucular (not nuclear :D ) controller? I know it's a matter of taste but having the cables sticking out like this ruins the whole (closed) look of the bike in my opinion. And of course the...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The FETs in the Nuc are sitting on the two sidewalls so I guess this wouldn't help much. With the stock battery I had no problems at all with heat. But with peaks of nearly 21kw the 24F starts sweating in there. I bet removing the plastic side panels solves this "issue" right away!

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I have done that too because of the looks. The "donator"-Controller had all his connectors cut directly after exiting the housing so it was pretty much useless anyway. Be sure to put the old controller in a bucket full of boiling water for ~20 minutes to make the potting compound more soft. At...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

No, both of the nucular controllers 12F and 24F came without any extra payment whatsoever to my adress in Germany.

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Sadly thats not the case anymore. I got a late 2019 model and get BMS cuts if the battery amps get higher than 95A constant. Pulling that less than 5 seconds and you're good but I don't want to risk a forced restart of the system. You would never know when the BMS gets bitchy and shuts down...

    Rohloff: torque limit issues

I think you are mixing two things here: 1. Torque 2. Radial force The thing you feel when accelerating is radial force transfered from the wheel to the ground. Torque on the other hand is the force acting in the middle of the wheel. And as you know Torque is the product of Force times lever...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

I think I got it now. You mean something like this right? It would look way better than it is now with the spring! Much more hidden and less prone to error. But I'm a bit concerned about the amount of engaged teeth of the front sprocket. I will defintily note it to test and try out in the...

Need help with my big wheel scooter project

Of course if paired with the right controller. If i were in your place I would either buy a hub kit with controller (cheap) OR the hub seperate and a VESC (full programmable controller for about ~100 USD). You can set all the parameters like power and torque here and have an app to show your...

Need help with my big wheel scooter project

The 6384 is definitely capable of delivering you desired speed BUT you will have to watch the motor temperatur on longer uphill climbs. I built a scooter with a 6374 170kv and a longboard with a 6384 170kv and both were geared to around 45-50km/h with good acceleration. They are small but very...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

Thank you for the offer, I appreciate your help! BTW what kind of rear chain guard do you use on the 161? All the ones I find online would need a rework because the width is to high for the narrow 219 chain... One solution would be to mill the middlepart down from 24mm to 16mm or something...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

You are right I defintely need to install "real" footpegs! Mounting them directly to the frame is hard as the rear brake lever sits very close to the frame as you can see in the pictures. That's why I chose to mount them onto the aluminium profile. For the future my plan is to get the rear...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

@MorbidlyObeseKoala (what a name  ) Yes I am nervous. Time will tell how well they hold up. But they seem pretty rigid for now. Unfortunately after a test drive yesterday I realised that this just isn't the perfect solution. Using a tube as foot pegs means you have a very small contact...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

Thank you! New footpegs and some ideas for a chain tensioner One of the few things that survived from the first test ride till now are the "footpegs". And even with quotation marks they doens't deserve this description. They cut in your leg if you loose traction and put your foot down for...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

New rear tire and front splash-guard The knobby tire came in the mail and it was time to install it. As it gets more and more wet outside the michelin street tire gets pretty much useless. I would have changed it earlier but there were just too many more important things to do on the bike. But...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

Adding a temp-sensor to the LMX 60mm motor Together with the nucular 12f controller I ordered a NTC10k temperature sensor to mount it inside the motor, as the stock one doesn't come with this feature. It was my first time to open up an inrunner so it took a bit longer than I thought. First...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

Installing a front break So I ordered this brake which I thought could fit: Turned out: it doesn't fit at all  The brake has two pistons but only on one side and was therefore floating mounted on a bracket. As I don't want to entrust my life to this chinese rubber I decided to made a...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

@technotony007 Thank you! It definitely is! And to make it even more fun I preordered the bigger 24F nucular controller that has double the phase amps (500A) :D Runtime is heavily dependant from your driving style and enviroment. I live in a hilly area so if you always go WOT you get near 50...

    Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo

So let's begin with solving the problem of a moveable motormount. The chain jumped of around 4 times now and the last time it snapped the 219 chain master link which lead to the walk of shame with an oily chain in my hand  Instead of modeling a new mount in CAD for the CNC I chose a...

@ZERONEST Oh, I read your motor designation wrong  I thought you meant the 138 70h 3000w QS motor, thats why I wrote it is too powerful for such a small bike. The motor you got I think is pretty good compareable to the one I have. It's perfect in size and weight for a pit-bike! Hope...

    Razor Phase Two Conversion

@Madyicstik Thanks for your comment and sorry for my late answer. I was concerned about the strength of these T-nuts too but believe me before they break the allen key will damage the head of the bolt. Looking back from now I would choose bigger aluminium profiles (like in my Pit-Bike build)...
