De-restricting speed on the Greenworks Stealth 60V minibike?

Has anyone come across info on how to lift the 25 mph speed limit on the 60V minibike? I realize range would be lost but it'd be safer on nominally 30 or 35 mph speed limit roads if it didn't have said limiter. Failing that, has anyone swapped in a different controller on one? Thanks in...

    Denver commuter e-bike

I don't think I'm getting anything from Grin for that Sempu, and indeed am going to pursue returning the non-broken items to my credit card company again. So I may be able to send that Sempu to you, FETguy--hang tight while I work through the return. I voiced my displeasure to Grin via email...

    Denver commuter e-bike

I’m going to return my commuter to stock human-only powered form. Electric DIY bits have been nothing but a headache. The Sempu ate its wiring, as it must have been moving relative to the BB shell and the 1/2" hole I drilled through it: I've asked ebikes.ca to initiate a return for all that I...

Unplugged Sempu, still no dice. No backlight or any sign of life from the CA.

I had the connector flipped mentally. 3.33V across 5 and 6. Full battery voltage across 1 and 2. The CA still won’t turn on.

    Denver commuter e-bike

Interesting. I didn't know if it was already regulated or full. I'll check again tonight, but I'm pretty sure I saw 3V. (I guess that makes sense since it has the battery voltage accessory out bit.)

    Denver commuter e-bike

Not sure what exactly failed. Hopped down off of a curb, pedal assist went all wonky and irregular for the next few hundred meters, then afterward it registered no pedal force at all (as assessed on the little moving legs bar graph at the left of the main CA display). Upon checking its...

    1) Ordered myself a Pivot Shuttle e-mtb. That should be quite nice. (Demoed it, a Commencal Meta Power a la the last post, and a Specialized Turbo Kenevo, and liked the Shuttle the best.) 2) Went ahead with the lightweight electrification plan for my belt drive Soma Wolverine: MG310, 36V...

    Denver commuter e-bike

So I never moved back to Seattle. Still in Denver. I did get around to testing a factory mid drive e-bike with proper torque sensing PAS, though... albeit a Commencal e-mtb. I quite liked how those feel and think I'll get such a bike sooner or later. In the meantime I built this rig as my...

    Cable management

How do you guys handle cable management? I'm talking about the Hall and motor power leads, the controller's and battery pack's wiring, the CA wiring (as opposed to the bike's own shifter cables and brake cables/hydraulic lines). Bunch of Velcro "chainstay guard" things? Giant shrinkwrap? Just...

An even better idea: Note The Crown 4080 hub motor... and a Surly Ice Cream Trucker fork with 135 mm spacing to fit it with just a little stretching. No overheating issues with that setup, and I'd potentially be the only guy around with a Crown on the front.

    Denver commuter e-bike

I am rather bored at work today so finished sketching out a DIY build, ugliness and all. It'd start with a Surly Ogre, for compatibility with my nice 29er wheels (or at least the one that wouldn't be replaced): I'd go with the frameset because I don't like their stock parts and wouldn't use...

    Denver commuter e-bike

A possible Seattle e-bike for commuting, putting the DIY option aside since I want internal cable routing and non-ugliness this time around assuming the mid-drives are sufficiently powerful these days: Trek Super Commuter+ 8S. Coming in Spring 2017. $5k but oh so pretty. XM700+ clearly a...

Another update: - might be moving back to Seattle, but not before the end of calendar 2017 if this happens at all - if I move back I'll build or buy another e-bike as my commute probably would be West Seattle -> West Seattle Water Taxi -> e-bike through downtown to Swedish or thereabouts -...

    Denver commuter e-bike

An update: - moved a few miles north within the same greater neighborhood - commute is now 6.1-6.5 miles each way (depending on where on campus I'm headed to) if on bike, 8-11 miles in car depending on route - been pedal biking religiously the last few weeks since I want to get into shape -...

    The Trek XM700+

I don't care about the suspension fork, per se, but I am super psyched that its design allows for a real front fender.

    The Trek XM700+

The XM700+ is now listed on the Trek Bikes US site! http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/collections/electric_assist/xm700_plus_us/# I like it quite a bit: Trek warranty, Bosch smoothness, 28 mph limit, fenders stock, and both front and rear rack eyelets. My only wish would be for a bit more tire...

    Genze by Mahindra, eScooter

It's a scooter. It has a platform for one's feet that extends across the front. Your comment about balancing shoes on knife-edge frame rails therefore makes no sense at all. I'd be surprised if any scooters have substantial travel--they're 30 mph urban beasts, after all. The weird things in my...

    Do you care about pedaling?

Unless you've only ridden 50 and 125 cc motorcycles, 100 kph is indeed slow.

Those are no substitute for full fenders. PDW and SKS were the first places I looked. Perhaps by this time next year there will be more offerings.

Now that I dig a bit deeper it does seem that some people have the fat bike fender issue figured out: That's a Planet Bikes Cascadia modified by cutting it down the middle and splicing in 3" of [pickyourmaterialhere]. MK Fenders makes wood fenders up to 135 mm width...

    Denver commuter e-bike

The Bafang doesn't look to be the best in terms of reliability and the Lightning Rods kit is both ugly (sad to say it but it's true) and probably overkill. I think a hub motor is the way to go, again. With regard to fat bikes, why can't some manufacturer build these? People can jury-rig...

    Denver commuter e-bike

As a preface, I'm not going to be buying/building anything until my new house mortgage closes, so spring of 2016 is realistic. That aside, more speculation about what I could build for my to-be-6.5 miles each way, windy, slightly hilly commute: I've been pretty happy with the idea of the MinUte...

Suggestions for a strong rear rack for e-bike?

Agreed. My first setup was a rack trunk like that. It made the bike handle terribly. Low as possible is the way to go, whether in a pannier or in the frame.

    Nissan Leaf EV

Our '13 SL is being turned in after its 2 year lease is up in August. It's caused exactly 0 extra hassle besides the monthly lease payment and the sole 12 month battery checkup visit. No maintenance, no problems, just quiet, reliable transportation. There are some things I don't like about it...
