1080P mini cams, alternatives to expensive GoPro

Anyway, I've found I prefer 3x when playing back bike rides. Speeding up a 2x Timewarp to 3x gives a choppy result, as movements are sped up. So this time I took a 5x Timewarp and slowed it down by 40% to 3x. It's not choppy, but since the render engine has to fill frames there's something...

1080P mini cams, alternatives to expensive GoPro

Timewarp is nice, but you are limited in the speed increments: 2x, then 5x and up (I think it is used mostly be people who strap a GoPro to their chest and walk at normal speed). I've found that running a bicycle trip at 3x gives the most pleasant result, but that's not an option with native...

I assure you that will never, ever be a concern for me.

    The Incredible Shrinking Rockhopper

Well, I absolutely love the hydraulic brakes. I actually skidded yesterday, like when I was a kid using coaster brakes.

    The Incredible Shrinking Rockhopper

Last month I decided to buy the Specialized Rockhopper Sport 29 my local bike shop was advertising on their website. It was a XXL size with hydraulic disc brakes, both features of high importance to be (I am 6'5" tall). The bike was fitted to me (a new stem was installed) and I was very happy...

    Ebike Turfwar

Really? I would have thought it was just heating up. We still don't see many eMTBs on local trails, at least not on this side of the Karenfornia state line. This is a legitimate concern. Since there is little practical difference between a MTB and an eMTB, insofar as their effects on the...

1080P mini cams, alternatives to expensive GoPro

Problem is, since Timewarp is in fact a form of time lapse, there is no sound. So what happens when you shoot an image stabilized video in 1080/30 and then speed it up 2x in Kdenlive? Not as smooth. The image stabilization evens out all the bumps and things, but still picks up the swaying...

1080P mini cams, alternatives to expensive GoPro

Video mage stabilization is here. Well, it's been here for a while, but I just discovered it. I noticed last year when I bought an iPhone 12 (replacing an Android phone I bought in 2015) how the video image stabilization made videos look professional, like you were using a SteadiCam. I...

Industry worried about fed regulations, selling “overpowered” bikes

Riders won't be sued, they will be cited. There are people in places like California and New York who are being charged with felonies today for being in possession of firearms that were perfectly legal ten years ago. It's a handy blueprint for how to deal with troublesome trends in technology.

Industry worried about fed regulations, selling “overpowered” bikes

They don't bother with the manufacturers, they go after the importers, distributors, retailer . . . and owners. The article appeared on bicycleretailer.com, so naturally it was targeted at industry players. But all the industry players are not in China (if they were, bicycleretailer.com...

Industry worried about fed regulations, selling “overpowered” bikes

If you think the foreign origin of an e-bike exempts it from local laws, you ought to try legally importing and registering a car into California from China . . . or Nebraska.

edited title - Repairing my controller and other fixes/maintenance

Here's a photo of the back of my Luna battery pack (sorry it's so big, I found it online): There are two female XT60s for charging, and two XT90s that go to the motor. The lower connector of each pair is covered with a cap. I am not sure why there are two of each, I am relatively new to all...

    E-bike to breakfast

Thanks to my conversions (a TSDZ2 and more recently a BBS02) regular Sunday morning rides to the Sasquatch Tavern, about ten miles out of town, are now routine. I don't think we would be doing this without the pedal assist. Funny thing about the conversions: they get us on our bikes even...

0 feedback ebayers keep bidding on my e dirt bike?

I'll have to look into it. I loathe Facebook, but I have this 2004 GTO I need to get rid of . . . Craigslist just brings out the cranks.

Big guy would like a starter bike recommendation

For my current and second bike, the decisions have already been made: I have the Specialized Rockhopper and once I fix the handlebars as suggested above, I'm sure I'll be very happy with it. It's not exactly appropriate for daily commutes on asphalt and concrete, but I also want something I can...

Big guy would like a starter bike recommendation

Thank you for the suggestions. I bought the bike from a small local retailer run by a guy as big as me, and I'm supposed to take the bike back in within a couple months anyway. If I'm still uncomfortable with the handlebar arrangement after a week or two, I'll definitely make a change.

Big guy would like a starter bike recommendation

The new Rockhopper XXL will take some getting used to: It fits me much better than my other bike, but my, um, stance is quite different: I'm leaning forward much more than before. I suppose that's actually a more correct way to ride, but again I'm not used to it. I'm also not used to riding...

    My econo-e-bike

I've seen you refer to a twist throttle. Which side is it installed on? During my second, most recent build, for a friend, I installed a twist throttle on the right side (for my first build I never bothered connecting a throttle), simulating a motorcycle. Problem we found is you use the right...

    Bafang motor replacement

Thanks for the invite, Don, but I have my hands full (so to speak) right here where I am. In addition to using a bike for my daily commute, I think of the bike as a sort of force multiplier for backcountry exploring: it will get me deeper into the wilderness more quickly than walking, which is...

Faulty battery cells, modules likely caused e-scooter fire in India

Well, that was a quote from LG Energy Solution, presumably the company that makes the Ola BMS. These Bird scooters were recently deployed in Reno, they are all over the place. And they seem to be terribly abused. I expect there to be a big difference between battery system designs for...

    Bafang motor replacement

It sounds like you are using the bike the way it was meant to be used, so I'm surprised it's not already appropriately configured. I'm also surprised you haven't gotten any replies. This sort of nerdy electronics stuff is just meat for a lot of the guys around here.
