new version of dual vertical axis turbine

I just posted about the wind charging station we built for Tesla at Earthday Texas. Figure I should post a picture of that as well. If anyone is interested, That event is now the largest in the World and growing every year. Next year we will furnishing the chargers for the i8 at its premier at...

new version of dual vertical axis turbine

This is the latest version of the dual vertical axis turbine we are building. This new unit is half the height of the last one, and thanks to the new axial flux generators, it produces as much as the previous version. We were already 48% efficient with the 8 ft unit, and were recognized by DOE...

    e-bike data base

I was asked today if I had a compiled list of all e-bikes in a simple spread sheet format. Is there such an item out there? If not, can we (collectively) start building one? I was thinking of a side by side comparison. MFG, model, general features, price. Totally unbiased, just the facts. Thanks, D

    lowdown cruzer

Threw this together with stuff laying around the shop. Mini drum front brake, mondo big 9 inch rear disc, paltry 36V LiFePO4 (couldn't "borrow" any of the 48Vs), Geared rear hub, 3 inch rear tire on surley rim. Frame is older Sun bike that was gathering dust in corner, may take the time later to...

Dual rotor axial flux motor design

The thin disc is one of two maganets. One above and one below the winding pcb. the pie slice taken out of the entire upper maganet and Fe rotor for ease of viewing the assembly. The same pie slice is taken out of the winding pcb and lower Fe rotor, but maganet disc is intact. The resolution of...

Dual rotor axial flux motor design

Any rpm We can optimise specific rpm and torques by varying the gap between winding and maganet rotors, winding density and the such. Now moving on to a newer and more efficient winding board. Run some fea and you see what happens with flat printed windings and what to do to fix.

Dual rotor axial flux motor design

I think we may have passed you by on an axial flux motor. The photo is a cut out of the 1hp prototype. one of the two maganets and a slice of the pc board ''windings'', which are not windings at all can be seen. The pc board stays put and the two maganet plates rotate on the shaft. Maganet plate...

    PickleCycle Build

I think this is larger photo. Motor is our design, Going Electric, geared 500W w/25A controller (9fet) Battery is LiFePO4 prismatic cell 36V with 6 + 6 length wise layout that leaves plenty of room for cabling to run thru frame, which is 4 X 4 sq. 6061 aluminum. There is room for 48V as well...

    PickleCycle Build

Kinda where we were going with it. Bunch of NASCAR folks want it already with team colors. I was thinking of tailgaters, RVers and resort areas. Going to put some 3 inch balloon tires on the next one so's not to get too bogged down in sand. South Padre Island here we come! D

    PickleCycle Build

Thought I would start posting some of the stuff we build at what we call Caveman Engineering. Over the last few yaers we have made some, shall we say unconventional, electric vehicles. Mostly bikes and trikes, but we have also done, and are doing buses, conversions of M-113 Gavins and scout...
