    I will answer my own question here. If in "maintenance mode" the pedal needs to have a good amount of force for the torque sensing motor to register the pedaling-assist request. You will hear the motor briefly.

    Chain in PAS chainring

    Which will fail first if the ebik chain falls off the chainring and gets wedged between the chainring and the frame? (A) Stationary PAS pickup/circuit card or (B) chainring mounted PAS ferrous ring? (Is it a ferrous ring? It has no obvious magnetism)

    Geared hub motor getting noisy....

    I worked on a MAC with chatter. A three-leg Hall sensor in the motor was not glued in place. I glued it back and the noise went away. I'm guessing the loose Hall caused its phase to lead or lag. I also think I was lucky to glue it in the right place. I am not sure how exact the placement had to be.
