Testing 18650 Internal resistance using resistor and multimeter

Haha we're a year ahead down in NZ here 😂 oops went right over my head, all just blurs together at the moment! Came here to learn about internal resistance, get reminded what year it is - 2022 right, thank you 😂

Testing 18650 Internal resistance using resistor and multimeter

Yeah it can be a bit painful when your limited to just what's on trademe ay! 2023 has flown by for sure, let's hope 2024 slows down a bit. Merry Xmas to you too hope it's a goodie 🤙

Looking at building a new pack with Samsung 50E

Ok sweet that's good to know, thanks for the response! So your controller draws 20amp max? Do you notice if the battery ever gets hot, especially over summer? Also do you know if your cells are in a plastic holder, spacing them apart? Or are they stuck directly on to each other? Thanks again

Anyone have experience with Samsung 50e or Samsung 40t cells?

Ah really that's a shame.. Sorry to hear that! expensive thing to be cheated on. Does it charge to 84 volts now? Perhaps those 2 volts are where some of the missing capacity is. And yeah, I have a spot welder and all the other fixings to build a battery, just have to source some legit cells...

Anyone have experience with Samsung 50e or Samsung 40t cells?

Ok great, thank you good to know! Have you noticed the 40t loose capacity faster than the 50e? As the specs say the capacity goes to 60% after 250 charge cycles, when the 50e reduces to 80% after 1000 cycles, so seems quite the difference! Yeah if I got 3000 cycles I would be very happy, and...

Anyone have experience with Samsung 50e or Samsung 40t cells?

I'm looking at new cells for a battery build, the samsung 50e are quite attractive with their high capacity, but I'm unsure if their cont. discharge rating will be enough for my application. I would likely build 14s5p, I don't know if I would have room for any larger. This gives me 49amp...

Testing 18650 Internal resistance using resistor and multimeter

Thanks for the replies, makes a bit more sense now. I'm still struggling with the testing using the resistor. I have tested multiple different cells, I have also linked both 2 and then 3 of the resistors in series to try measure a different ohms (although to be honest Im not 100% sure what this...

Looking at building a new pack with Samsung 50E

Hi there, I know this was a couple years ago, but I'm facing the same dilemma deciding between the 40t and 50e. How has your pack held up a couple years later? Thanks! Sent from my SM-S901E using Tapatalk

Testing 18650 Internal resistance using resistor and multimeter

Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone can help me verify I'm doing the right method and using the appropriate resistor to test my 18650s liion internal resistance. I have been following a method shown by 'Tom Donnelly' on YouTube, where you first measure the cell voltage, then put the cell across...

Charged capacity vs Discharged capacity 18650

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and also to building ebikes/batteries and I have a question which I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere online. It may be obvious but I just want to make sure. I have a bunch of recycled Panasonic ncr18650bd cells, and have been using the liitoKala lii-m4s...
