kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

Check out the SMC brand of flight packs. These are currently the top of the line in quality and performance as depicted on the RCGroup forum thread by MCSGUY. This thread has been running for 12 years and MCSGUY knows his stuff. Lipo ranking table on Pg 1 is always up to date. Battery Load...

    72v LiPo Pack 0-volts

Take off any electrical conducting jewelry. A short going through a ring or other piece can do extensive damage in a fraction of a second.

Grin Satiator not charging 52V Li-ion battery

Both pieces. IIRC, I may have wiggled the screw connection at the Satiator and seen indications of a make & break event. Not 100% sure but I think I did.

Grin Satiator not charging 52V Li-ion battery

I experienced something similar. I have three Satiators and use two at the same time to charge both batts on my bike. The newest charger would give the same symptoms you have. I determined that the Satiator cable was malfunctioning by replacing it with the cable from my third unused unit...

LiFePO Dead ? Or Low Voltage Cutoff?

If it was discharge to only 3.1 Volts per cell it should be undamaged and should charge right back up.

Help needed to add cruise control on my ebike

I use the CA III for cruise on my bike but I've never been able to figure out why it is designed to function the way it does. It seems to be trying to maintain the torque value at the time you set it. On flat terrain it is fine. But on a hill, the bike will slow down and power will decrease...

Does this mean my battery is dead?

Rich, your battery died early BECAUSE you "repeatedly" discharged below 20%. That's a no-no for any Lithium chemistry battery. Even better, is to discharge to no less than 30% Depth of Discharge. Your battery will provide more lifetime charge cycles. There's tons of threads here on use and...

    Battery speed boost

Far better to decide before you begin the ride if you're going to ride with 2 paks ON and in parallel for the entire ride or start out on the small pack, deplete it, turn it off, turn on the big pack and deplete it. (or vice-versa) I have two paks and run them in parallel every time I ride...

    LIPO charging

For unbiased, professional Lipo testing carried out annually, see this thread on RCGroups. The charts on post one are always up-to-date. It may surprise a lot of Lipo fans. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1767093-Battery-Load-Test-Comparisons It would be great if you could...

kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I use two, 3S/6000 Graphenes with no trouble. During calibration, I can use only one because I will get an over-current error with too much current available with two in Parallel. Calibrate with one, then put two in parallel. IIRC, way back in the thread, it was recommended to use 3S v 4S for...

    Charger with a screen?

Here's a 16S programmable RC charger by ISDT relatively cheap. Read more about it but IIRC, you don't have to use the balancing function so at least you can specify your desired termination Voltage. https://www.buddyrc.com/products/isdt-cm1620-modular-charger?variant=38076397027516

    Charger with a screen?

I use the Grin Satiator. Completely programmable and 3 models available depending on what top Voltage you need. All chemistries can be charged but there is no individual cell Voltage display.

Why do people use gloves when building batteries?

Ask how many auto and heavy equipment mechanics have caused a short circuit and resulting burn marks around that finger (if not more serious) with the ring(s) on their finger(s). I did it once and was lucky enough to be able to pull the ring away from the short location and get it off my finger...

Over Voltage fix (and hopefully explanation)

You'd most likely have to buy a small hobby charger where you can set termination Voltage at any level you want and use it in-place of your standard, non-adjustable charger. You can get good hobby chargers that handle all the Lithium chemistries for well under $100.00

Over Voltage fix (and hopefully explanation)

Just a suggestion. There is almost no capacity gained between a charge termination Voltage of 3.5 Volts per cell vs 3.6 VPC. You'll get more life cycles out of the pack. Really should not charge to 3.7 VPC.

Over Voltage fix (and hopefully explanation)

It would help if you snapped a couple pics of the entire battery, also showing your Voltmeter leads probing the battery POS and NEG terminals and also showing the Voltmeter display.

Fault in pack , possibly unbalanced

You probably don't have an adjustable charger. I'd buy a small cheap hobby charger, set it to charge at 1S and then charge each individual "P" group one at a time to the 4.2 Volt termination Voltage then do your rides and monitor each group to see if the same problem comes back or not. A lot...

Paralleling batteries, separate charging ports & BMS

Similar situation and I use two chargers (same brand and model) to individually charge each pack and cut the charge time. They are always within a tenth of a Volt or two after settling for an hour so no problem re-connecting them back in Parallel (key switch on each pack).

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

My original has worked flawless for years and one of my new units, the high voltage unit, has worked just fine. My new mid voltage unit has power faults and I've traced it to a bad output cable or the contacts in the charger for the output cable. Have not had time to get it ironed out.

The controller has failed and the owner has a new one in-use. I wanted to take a peek inside. I removed all 8 case screws and have gently to moderately tried to separate the top plastic half from the bottom Aluminum half but noting budges. I lightly tried tapping a sharp chisel into one end...

Is there a way with the Phaserunner and/or CA V3 software interfaces to sync the difference

As measured at my Phaserunner battery input terminal by my in-calibration, 6.5 digit Keysight bench meter, my pack Voltage reads 49.0 and the Cycle analyst reads 48.7. Is there a way with the Phaserunner and/or CA V3 software interfaces to sync the difference?
