I have an outrunner which I took apart (to diagnose a problem, which turned out to be play between the shaft and bearings; I'll ask about that on a different thread). Before I put it back together I want to make sure the shaft is perfectly straight in the rotor. It slides into a holder which is not super loose but also not tight, it slides right in. Then there are two set screws. Pic attached.
Does anyone have insight into how to best test the shaft's alignment? If it's out of alignment, I can imagine carefully shimming or otherwise trying to tweak it, but the first step is checking, and I can't think how best to do it.
