My Alternator to Motor Conversion

I have been planning on doing an alternator conversion to a motor for a while and picked up three non-working alternators a couple of months ago but only got round to having a look at them yesterday.

They are all Denso alternators which I think were taken from Toyotas MR2’s. Two of them are identical and the third is similar but a bit larger. The larger one has a worn out slip ring as did one of the smaller ones while the other small one was seized, I think it has a twist in the casing.

I swapped the rotor from the seized one which had good slip rings with the worn one to make a good alternator.

All three are wound in star with the centre point available so are simple to connect to.

The brush holder mounts to the diode pack so I decided to keep the diodes and just cut all the legs to isolate the brushes from the windings.

It should now be quite simple to connect to the three phases marked 1, 2 and 3, and to the brushes at A and B (the two B’s are connected together).

So now I am looking for a controller, ideally I would like to use two 12V SLA batteries for the power source as I can get hold of some for free so my decision is do I go for an RC type controller or an E- Bike controller?

How much made ampere your alternator?

The controller RC seems smaller and lighter in weight, and price less high than controller E-bike.
But controller E-bike are certainly firmer than controller RC.
Happy to see that of other person here make conversions alternator in engine, COOL!

The small alternator is rated at 80A, I think the larger one I have is 100A but it will need a new slip ring or I might have a go at splitting the rotor and fit permanent magnets.

I have just ordered a 125A controller from Hobbyking so hopefully I can it test in a couple of days.

You go speeded-up motion with which?
