He is still alive but suffers from the affect of the smoke inhalation. He is old for a cat (15 years), but he lumbers around just fine.

Thank you for asking!

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

I'm pretty sure they use LiFePO4. But the frame is what's great :-) Ping packs should be very safe. I hope you are well now, Floont! I and my family and cat are now well after the LiPo fire that took my house, bike and almost everything I owned.. It may be unreasonable of me to stay away from LiPo ...

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

What type of batteries are used in the Stealth Bomber?

Do they need balancing?

Are they safe from fire and the like?

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

By the way Floont....thought I'd mention: Your Rear x5404 on full suspension Mongoose Blackcomb was a badass build man. It would be awesome for you to rise from the ashes with Headways or a LiMn chemistry. Unfortunately, I had blown the x5404 hall sensors in it after taking the voltage to 147VDC. I...

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

How is your cat doing, Floont? The cat has healed all of his mouth wounds due to smoke inhalation and has regrown the hair on his front paws to where it looks like a "crew cut". He is doing extraordinarily well. Thanks! To others: Unattended charging is bad, especially with Lipo's. My nex...

Thank you for the respect, Ypedal.

Re: Monzilla - BURNED IN LIPO FIRE AUGUST 11

As stated before, I will never use LiPo again.

There are safer chemistries that have marginally lower energy densities. I will go back to gold ole' Lead Acid while I investigate what I need for using LiFePo in the future.

Re: Monzilla

The fire is an absolute fact, not a sick joke. My thought is that the charger overcharged my pack and it caught them on fire and then caught my garage on fire. Beware of LiPo and cheap Chinese chargers. They'll ruin your life. Goodbye to my ebike brethren. I shall not be returning to the hobby. The...

RIP Monzilla...

The battery charger caught fire and burned the bike beyond recognition. It also burned my whole house down including my car and my truck.

I will never go back to ebiking again.

Re: Physically Unable to Pedal?

I, personally at my age, have joint problems, which make hills a BIG problem. So, all I do is faux pedal, so as not to attract unwanted attention.

I rarely pedal in actuality, unless there's been a failure of the electrical assist of my ebike.

Re: Lipo Starter Kit

Trouble with those cell level alarms is that they often take power from the first two or three cells, so draining the pack unevenly, helping it go out of balance. The Hyperion 1420 charger can charge 14 in series so you can charge the pack in one go without needing to split it. I agree with Neil. T...

My faithful x5404 has failed. I replaced it with my "test" x5304 and surprisingly it is peppier than the x5404. I think I'll keep it!

Re: Who makes this torque arm???

Do you use nord lock washers? It's starting to seem apparent to me that without nord lock washers, the only viable option would involve either epoxy or welding. Does your torque arm obstruct any part of the rear derailleur? Mine does and I am not sure what to do to get around it. Right now I am con...

Re: Who makes this torque arm???

I use two. One for each side of the bike. So as long as I inspect the bike before each ride, I should be OK... even with a bolt.

The problem right now is I only have one installed at present, so I have to limit jackrabbit starts and high torque situations until my new torque arm comes in.

Re: Monzilla

I am Icarus. I flew too close to the Sun. I got too close to 150VDC and blew my throttle, my cruise-control, and worst of all, my hall effect sensors in my x5404. Fortunately, I had a spare x5304 already laced to an Alex rim and already had a Schwalbe Crazy Bob tire on it. So... after swapping out ...

It's funny how you can order stuff and keep every email and piece of paper, but cannot find what you're looking for when the time comes to get another. So I am asking the general population... Who makes this torque arm??? http://i540.photobucket.com/albums/gg343/floont/TorqueArm_zps07e24a2f.jpg

Re: Lipo is 4 years old, 90% of original capacity. :)

Two years, 4 to 5 times out each day (I'm retired), charge to 4.2v each charge, store at 4.1v per cell, discharge to 3.7v maximum but most times to 3.95v per cell. Batteries are now puffy, but not overly. I bulk charge the 30s series to 125VDC (or 35s to 147VDC, depending on the configuration I'm r...
