Re: Is there any shortage on 18650 Lithium battery supply?
Ah...i should have searched before. I do see a similar thread. It seems it is not just 18650, but lithium itself is in short supply. The demand will only keep on climbing :D Recycled batteries may be my only option for now. Link to previous thread: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1...

Is there any shortage on 18650 Lithium battery supply?
Hello, I have been out of the loop in the EV bike world for a while. Lately, I was planning on building some new 18650 battery packs for my bikes, but it seems there is a huge shortage for quality and brand name cells. And even if there may some available occasionally, the prices shot through the ro...

Re: Making a cheap power pack for my ebike using chinese 18650 clones suggestions?
I am not really aware of any clones, but chances are the cells are repackaged and recycled from old devices or laptop batteries. It does not mean the batteries are bad. If you really want to stay safe, you might want to perform a capacity and IR test before you weld. It may be wise to double the cap...

Re: Electric Bikes sales/deals thread..
I finally decided to get a cyclamatic ebike to tinker with. I got it off amazon for $479. It was $550, but I got it additional $80 after i applied for amazon credit card. I could not refuse the offer  Anyways...long story short...the bike did exceed my expectation. The frame is steel with t...

Re: Rebuild of a 36V/12Ah lead-acid battery
I have used 10S2P pack to carry as a lightweight backup. The cells are Sanyo GA cells (3500 mah). The range is about 10 miles on flats (7Ah capacity). 10P3S should be sufficient for your needs, but more capacity is always good. As the cells age, they lose capacity, and you will be stressing the cell...

Which wires need crossed to "hot wire"? Going for stealth on my bike and would like to rid the controller. I am not sure about the type of display unit you have, but the procedure below worked on my 880 and 810 LED units, with a 5-pin connector. The LED display mounts are notorious for br...

FYI...I just heard back form GRIN Tech. They are coming up with a newer "Clip-on" Ligo packs, which would eliminate the needs of all the wiring-mess. Currently they are awaiting FCC certification. I have to give a big thumbs-up to GRIN Tech. They are truly innovative

Re: Biggest Ah 36 volt battery pack.
I really like the concept of Ligo Batteries. Wish it was slightly cheaper though. I hope ebikes.ca come out with a 10S2P or 10S4P version. Having only a single 10S pack is just too small to having to deal with a big wiring mess. I think the idea behind it was made to be Airport friendly...but I am n...

I got the Sanyo GA cells for rather cheap (< $4 each) from ES member, tumich. You may want to contact him. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61608&hilit=sanyo As for non-brand cells, it seems BAK is a new brand specifically made for chinese EVs. i would never know it's t...

Re: Biggest Ah 36 volt battery pack.
I use 10S4P Sanyo 18650GA cells. The cells are only 10C rated with 3500 mah capacity. I have built multiple 18650 bricks for various needs, from commuting, grocery shopping, recreational riding to touring. All my bikes are configured for 36v, so I can swap and reuse the same packs. The Sanyo 18650GA...

Re: Biggest Ah 36 volt battery pack.
wow...that's a lot of weight of a little bike, especially the rack. You dont want the rack to collapse with such a heavy load. I suppose you dont have access to any electrical outlets while touring.. How frequently will you be touring? If it is every once in a while, you probably might want to split...

Re: Biggest Ah 36 volt battery pack.
You could use ms paint or any other image software to resize the image. As for capacity, why would anyone need over 40Ah on a bicycle..beats me. I usually carry multiple smaller 14Ah/36v packs in my panneer if I am on a long trip and such. I normally dont need more than 10Ah, so I dont have any reas...

Re: Ebikeling 500w Geared Hub Kit
The capacitors inside the 36volt controller are rated 63 volts, so you should have no trouble with 48v batteries. I am not sure how the display unit will behave though. You should be able to hot-wire the controller to turn it on without the display unit. The throttle should still be functional.

Re: "We don't service DIY Ebikes" said the cycle shop
@chalo...yeah...i suppose that is true at some extent. Most of the bike mechanics are probably not familiar with such large hub motors, and if damaged it could be liability for the LBS, so I dont really have anything against them. And every 100 miles or so, I notice the spokes seem to come lose...so...

Re: "We don't service DIY Ebikes" said the cycle shop
When I first started with ebikes, I took one of my wheels to be trued at my LBS, and they refused and recommended I take the wheel to a scooter shop. Their excuse was they did not have the tools to work with hub-motors due to the axle width. I have no idea how true that is, but since then I learned ...

Re: Ebikeling 500w Geared Hub Kit
The ebikeling geared hub motors kits are surprisingly good for the price. I have been riding on and off for about 2 years with the ebikeling kit. The motor probably has around 1K miles and still going strong. Full throttle motor only cruising speed? Assist for higher speed? more info? Ah...i forgot...

Re: OVERCLOCKING an ANCHEER 20 inch folding ebike (Model AM001908 36V20" 250W)
I woudn't worry about burning the motor. The 30A is peak rating. Maybe during stop and go, the motor may require that much amperage, but will drop off as you speed. The controller will not push 30A, but the motor will pull whatever power it needs. When the motor reaches its top speed, it probably wo...

Anyboday know with led-display/pas selector like the one i have. Do the K26D runs on either 24, 36 or 48V. Or do I have to by either a 24, 36 or 48V version of the display is I intend to change the battery voltage ? I dont want to burn my K26D display/PAS selector if it`s only rated for 36V. Do you...

Re: OVERCLOCKING an ANCHEER 20 inch folding ebike (Model AM001908 36V20" 250W)
Can I just hook a 14S Lithium battery on this controller as is ? Or do I need to mod ? You should be able to switch the 10s with a 14s, but your display guage will not work. I have done this with the my 24v (7s) controller. My controller is capable of handle more than 24v, but the LVC cutoff is pro...

Re: Persecuting E-Bikes in New York City
This is just crazy. You'd think bicycles would improve traffic congestion, yet NY seems to be going backward. I am so glad i dont live this in city. DC and Baltimore is so much more bike friendlier.
