Re: Welding pannier rack to frame with mid drive motor inatalled on it
There are several other techniques other than electric arc welding. Considerable Shouting mentioned adhesive bonding. There are also several flame soldering/brazing products that work well with aluminum and do not require the higher heat that arc welding produces.

Re: CA digital switch - extra button
Confirmed the dark blue wire in my photo was not connected, tucked up into the shrink sleeve, so two wires available.
Not going to get back to this for a couple of days. Have some trail work to do while the weather is dryer.

Re: CA digital switch - extra button
Got curious enough to pull the shrink wrap off of mine. There is a brown lead that is not connected hidden in the wrap. It's short enough that I will have to splice something onto it if I were to connect it. Now to determine what happens when each button is pushed. Ground and +5 are defined in the d...

Have a very similar set up on my scorpion and, so far everything is working fine with v3.14.
Makes me hesitant to install the new firmware.

Re: hp velotechnik heim joints
When using a washer above the ball for safety, make sure there is enough motion range before contact as the suspension moves.
I've had to put a standard washer below the large one to get enough freedom.

Re: hp velotechnik heim joints
I'd check the bore size. It is relatively unusual for the shank and bore to be different.
There are some exceptions, but usually the difference is significantly more than 1mm.
Suspect the size rating has more to do with the thickness of the housing and strength rating.

Re: hp velotechnik heim joints
Try aircraft or race car supply shops. They are commonly used in experimental aircraft control linkages or race car suspension and steering gear. Industrial supply houses also are good supply sources. (McMaster-Carr). There are varying grades, at varying prices. Suggestion, for suspension units put ...

Re: Rear HUB drive kit with torque sensor (bottom bracket), Bafang, Tongsheng
Your choice. Grin will sell component parts, or a coordinated kit.
As the other poster mentioned, they are not cheap.
Compared with complete ebike purchase, could be considered inexpensive, if you have the talent to assemble, program and test what you select.

Re: Rear HUB drive kit with torque sensor (bottom bracket), Bafang, Tongsheng
Used Grin's bottom bracket torque sensor combined with CA on my Scorpion ebike conversion.
Works well with geared hub motor I chose to use and phaserunner.

Re: Disc Brake Conversion
If your adapter plate is stiff enough to maintain alignment between caliper and rotor, you only need a torque arm connected to the frame. Motorcycles use the design quite a bit with the caliper mounted both above and below the axle, with the torque transmitted into the swingarm by a tubular rod.

Re: Question regarding brake sensors. HELP NEEDED
My reference (CA) was to the Cycle Analyst controller that Grin also sells. They also have a collection of various wiring plugs that include quite a few of the common plugs. https://ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/connectors.html Good collection of information, and parts if the shipping is not...

Take a look at the motors Grin Tech has available.

I used the GMAC when I put an electric drive on my Scorpion, and it seems to be working well. Not a cheap motor.

Re: Question about making recumbent e-trike
Can only comment on my choices in my recent conversion on an HPVelo Scorpion FS26. Chose to go with a hub motor and 36v battery. Mounted the battery low toward the rear and was able to maintain just about the same weight distribution as the unconverted bike. (it is heavier on the side where the batt...
