IRide. 36v Any recommendations..
Neighbor gave me an ebike. Never seen a bike or hub motor like this. Has a cool drum brake. Headlight is stock. 36 v. Lead acid. Wondering if I should give it 36v lion or try to open the controller and check caps etc.
Any one see one of these?
Looks like Strokin llc terminated their llc in January..

Re: IRide. 36v ?
That hub looks a lot like the one on mine I bought off craigslist for $50.
You sure it had 36v of lead acid? mine was on a 24v li-ion pouch cell that super bloated, I recycled the cells and saved the battery housing.
If it is 36v then go for it. Li with work fine.
Can you peek at the controller, is it brushless?

Re: IRide. 36v ?
The red box/enclosure on the ground has a 36v lead acid sticker on it. Looks like the controller is under the battery. I just got it so I have not tore Into anything yet. I need to look at the controller. 2014 production. . I would hope it is brushless...

Re: IRide. 36v ?
If the batteries were lead acid and it's got a band brake, there is a high chance that the motor is brushed. No matter, if you get a 36v lion battery, it should be up and running. If you can't engage the motor, though, check the brake sensors. On the bike I cleaned up, this was my issue and I've read that it is a common fault with older bikes. The bike I fixed up was a 1997 EVG 24v.
Alternatively, you can get a new motor and controller, since you have to get a new battery anyway. Maybe think about it that way? The frame seems decent enough and you've also got a dedicated battery location. That's probably the hardest thing to fit on a bike.

Re: IRide. 36v ?
This is true. It has a great spot for battery. The rear brake is solid. Not squishy like cheap brakes. Tires hold air too. Haven't had time to work on it yet..

Re: IRide. 36v ?
Your rear hub has the brake built in, mine does not, both made the same year.
Lol, mine has been sitting in my garage for over a year. I will get it going over Turkey holidays. I think my little one might ride that to school in spring.
Re: IRide. 36v ?
Just wire up three lead batteries in series for 36v check polarity and voltage as you build your battery from 12 volt to 36 volt.
Be careful and put the rear wheel up in the air and stay away from the pedals in case they spin backwards and clip you.
If it works then we can figure out a battery for it.

Re: IRide. 36v ?
I looked at the lifepo batts I picked up awhile ago. I don't have any lead batts around to test this. I really need to peak at the controller to see if it can handle 43 + volts. Actually they are sitting at 13.2 each. 39.6v .. hmmm.
Tests to come..

Re: IRide. 36v ?
Awesome. It runs good. Can't quite fit 3 of my lifepo batts in the enclosure. Also I need to get a 12s BMS . And then make sure I get that wired correctly.. progress..

Re: IRide. 36v ?
Still tinkering when I have time. No battery yet. Rt side crank was loose. Has rt hand threads. Going to have to watch that.
Discovered it has a cadence sensor.
Figured why the front v brake would loosen when applied . The ferrule on the metal 90 degree tube would slip. Small crimp without pinching cable solved that.
While lubing the chain and cleaning the hub. Finally found some I'd.
Still not sure if I am using my lifepo 4 or buy a 36 volt battery. If someone has a link for a decent battery let me know. I have seen lifepo4 36v w charger for $150.00
