Rad dude! So good to hear stories like this! I see no reason why more people can't offset car usage like this. Way to go!

Re: MotoE paddock fire - all bikes destroyed!

Bummer😕 certainly makes you wonder how it started, charging prototype batteries is always a dicey proposition though. Racing is all about finding th limits.

Re: The keto thread

I've been following a Ketogenic diet for roughly 80% of the last 3 years. It has done wonders for me mental health, focus, end of day energy. The only downsides I have experienced are that it can affect my sleep. I get so amped up that I don't want to go to sleep (almost like overcaffinated) . Anyho...

Re: Need Some Way Of Carrying 2 Small Kids Safely.

Maybe a bakfiets of some sort, either trike or two wheeler where you can keep an eye on the kiddos. I woudn't expect to go too quickly on them though. This is something I've been soul searching about lately too, trying to find a reasonable, higher-speed ebike for kid carrying. Also a longtail, like ...

You didn't happen to finder a shifter for it did you? I don't think I can justify it right now, but it's a nice piece of bike!

Re: A solution to charging Li-ion in winter freezing weather: Testing an outdoor temperature-controlled charging system.

This is awesome Sam. I want to come over and check this out :D I think about this alot myself. I actually have a prototype heater that I'm building for a battery with a controller and a TCO. Ideally bikes would perform this function all on their own. Cooling is actually a much harder problem to solv...

Re: 2019 16" moped/scooter tire pop-off: which is the most puncture proof?

Thanks for this thread Nep, it is really helpful. It sounds pedestrian, but flat tires on ebikes have been a serious issue for me. After riding motorcycles for more than 100k miles, and only getting a single rear flat, I couldn't understand why bicycle tires are so delicate. Your photo of the hookwo...

Re: New Nissan Leaf.. 50kw more power and 62kwhr battery

Very exciting to have more options here. I fear that the 1st gen leaf actually left people with a unfavorable opinion on EV cars. 23kwh is way to small of a pack, plus no thermal management.

It also begs the question: Has the thermal management system been upgraded?

You seriously never cease to amaze me with your unyielding dedication to the craft Justin! 50% increase is significant! I love these smaller geared motors these days, and I've been having a great time pushing the limits. I'll definitely be adding some ATF!

I plan to shoot some video along the way but my plan is to edit it down to one documentary to be posted when it's over. One technical question: How did you generate the video above, with the human/solar/ etc input measurements?

Thanks!

Trip complete and successful. We ended up with about 750 miles total. Pretty mild compared to my 4400 miles in the same amount of time 4 years ago, but wtf, I am old... Anyway it was a fantastic time and charging wasn't really an issue considering the mileage that was traversed each day, and most da...

Hi Troy I followed your 4400 mile US cross-country trip in 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed the regular vlog. I felt inspired to do something similar within the UK, but that plan was scuppered when the young'uns came along shortly after. When I looked into the viability of outdoors guerilla charging wit...

When I plan out my route, I just go to Google Maps and go to Street View and see what you can see.
