Re: Looking for Tigershark craddle connectors

https://hilleater.ca/reention-battery-output-connector-for-juiced-and-other-e-bikes/ Replacing this connector is not trivial, on some batteries there is no off switch for the battery, the output leads are live at all times so extreme care must be taken when replacing the connector. Also soldering mu...

Re: Wanted PCB board designer

My idea is that a board would be made up that works with Jehu's system, and the Tiny BMS would sit on top of it like a daughterboard, with the connections made with headers or ribbon cables.

Higo/Julet headlight Y cord and other e-bike wiring parts

FYI I have these Y cables that plug into the light connector on Juiced and other e-bikes and gives you another place to plug an additional light. Could be used for a second head light, tail light or other accessory that comes on with the headlight. Be aware that any light that you plug into this has...

Re: Question for the Wizzards...why can’t Enphase micro inverters be connected in parallel?

A little back story... This system has evolved to where it is now, with cobbled together parts on a budget. I picked up a dozen M215 for like 50.00 each on ebay, with the thought that they would be better that the cheap chinese grid tie inverters. They are a total steal at 50.00 each, and work great...

Re: Question for the Wizzards...why can’t Enphase micro inverters be connected in parallel?

You are forgetting that these are grid tie micro inverters. They are meant to be hooked up to split phase 240V in parallel. Maximum 16 to a circuit I think. They only work when fed AC power, and shut down when AC from the grid is interrupted. Each one mounts under its own dedicated panel as designed...

Re: Question for the Wizzards...why can’t Enphase micro inverters be connected in parallel?

Thanks for the reply. These are grid tie inverters, so they automatically sinc with the grid. I am talking about the DC input side.

Question for the Wizzards...why can’t Enphase micro inverters be connected in parallel?

I bought a dozen of these M215 grid tie inverters with the idea of being able to switch between feeding a charge controller and battery bank, and sending power back into the grid. The panels are all connected in parallel. One M215 works fine, it is self limiting, but hooking two up to the same DC so...

Re: Catrike with Grin All Axle front hub motors

On with the build... I installed an aluminum plate behind the seat to mount the controllers, two of the batteries, DC-DC converter and assorted wiring. There were four bottle nuts in the large spine tube left over from the mid drive, so I mounted the plate to these. IMG_5862 (1024x768).jpg The two f...

Re: Catrike with Grin All Axle front hub motors

I changed the top bearings for the plastic ones some years ago to try and get rid of its tendency to wobble. It did work. We shall see how they hold up. There is not really any noticeable Torquing while applying power, unless one wheel looses traction, then it gives a good yank. Overall it is very n...

Re: Catrike with Grin All Axle front hub motors

Thanks for your question. There is no more scrubbing than with the rear hub. Each motor has its own controller, so it will run at a different speed without a problem. Regen works fine even on gravel. Traction is good even when climbing on gravel. It was actually worse with the mid drive. It will spi...

Re: Catrike with Grin All Axle front hub motors

"All respect for Grin, but that does not sound like a very good idea. Those motors will produce steering forces, they will never pull 100,0% evenly. Commercial tadpole trike needs more weight to the rear, it"s too front heavy without any motor. I think they are something like 70/30 from the box. Rea...

Re: Catrike with Grin All Axle front hub motors

You are right, I do like to experiment... But I think the dual lightweight front hubs are better than one big bruiser on the back. Minimizing the extra weight on the back of a tad pays off in better handling, plus the front wheels are smaller, so better torque from the motors as well.

Catrike with Grin All Axle front hub motors

First: Full disclosure. I am a Grin dealer, and the Canadian distributor for Juiced Bikes. This was the third repower of my 2007 Catrike Expedition. First came an Ecospeed mid drive with 20 ah 36V Ping batteries , it ran well for years until I needed to replace the batteries, and decided to upgrade ...
