Re: Alta Motors Redshift

Hm a DIY open source Alta, where the community pulls together. I like that. I wish you the best and hope you can gather enough brain power and dedication to hit a home run. It is really too sad if BPR just will sit on the inventory and patents the picked up from the Alta closing. I applaud the init...

Since Alta closed last October we are figuring out how to make all the stuff we need. Fortunately there is a lot of resources here. The DIY community is pretty amazing. Philip started altaownersforum.com shortly after buying his. He’s like a Fiat Chrysler engineer. The site is filled with geeks who...

Lol.

Well I am 100% serious about building or buying a MXR.
So when the time comes... I might have something ready ;)

I could use some help though. Anyone who can help me cast/machine parts this is the time.

Re: Alta Motors Redshift

The Zero's are nice bikes, and I did give the FX a good test ride last year as they are readily available here, but they are barely suitable for off road use on anything but nice gravel roads in my opinion :) The suspension is really not that great, and they generally feel like road bikes made to l...

Sucks they weren't bought up by someone intent on continuing the work on a road legal enduro bike! The only competitor was the Freeride E from KTM and that is a much smaller motorbike, and not a full on Enduro model.

I'm in New York right now and e-bikes are everywhere. Many people use them for delivery.

I googled it and they now allow them here.

This is also on top of the low demand/price cuts on Tesla cars that has now emerged from a build-up of 2 years worth of ordering that's now pretty much been fulfilled (aside from the 35k orders)

Re: Tesla Model 3

No, I don't believe 263 million vehicles will be on the road at once. The point is that being a rare Tesla or EV owner now might seem fine but this glosses over the infrastructure generating and transmission scaling issues to go full scale electric. Not to mention in any scenario it still takes ~20...

Re: Tesla Model 3

You just expertly made my case that they are great commuter/city cars, but not so much for long distance travel. And, no, electricity lines and infrastructure does NOT run everywhere. This is a huge country. And even where it exists not near enough capacity to service our 263 million vehicle fleet....

Re: Tesla Model 3

I totally agree. Tesla makes some nice vehicles but they have a long way to go to catch up to the major manufacturers in being able to build cars efficiently and economically. And Tesla doesn't have any really special proprietary technology that the majors can't at least equal. I don't see Tesla's ...

Re: Tesla Model 3

I don't see how the charging infrastructure can ever be as ubiquitous as gasoline stations, especially here in the USA. Think of a busy Interstate highway with literally thousands and thousands of gas pumps and you still have to wait to access one sometimes. So even if you were to replicate those t...

Re: ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION DELTA /WYE and SERIE/PAPALLEL stator

Hi Arlo, I ask because I took interest in the subject when Doctorbass first posted in 2009, and we did a lot of testing and found it to be very useful, especially on sensorless systems. We see more torque and efficiency in Wye, and of course much more speed in Delta. We spent a whole lot of time an...

Re: Assembled Hi-Power LiPo battery packs - any interest?

Tab cooling is the most effective way to cool a pack but other than air convection you're limited to low thermal conductivity polymers stuck to the battery terminals. Not only that you cant seal a battery completely from the elements when you aircool. This is the perpetual dillemma. Base cooling is...
