Re: Remember Lowell ?

Glad to hear I inspired a few people! I still have my Rocky although the batteries are definitely not what they used to be. I keep waiting for some sort of battery breakthrough to happen, but so far I haven't seen anything yet that I really want to buy. A short clip of what I've been up to... non eb...

The car I'd really like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BwIniaHIUE
And that would a cool EV sound too.

From what I've seen of Chinese drivers, the batteries will be in plentiful supply at their wreckers' yards long before that.

Maybe we'll be able to buy them off Ebay...

Re: Another gas guzzler to hybrid kit in the works?

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention the tire change aspect, although I've installed plenty of tire plugs without even taking the wheel off the vehicle. By having the hardware externally mounted, you can advertise your eco friendly intentions to all! I'd also be concerned about thef...

Re: Another gas guzzler to hybrid kit in the works?

I'd hardly call a base Civic sedan a 'gas guzzler' as far as new cars go. 5.4L/100km hwy, 7.4L/100km city.

What would be really interesting to see is this system installed on a 92-95 Civic Vx, which starts life at 4.9L/4.3L city/hwy, and around 600lbs lighter than a new Civic sedan.

Knoxie: That's the exact same motor you tested? If so, that's disappointing to hear :( I keep waiting and waiting for something new and better to come along... maybe in 2009?

GM needs to build vehicles people actually want so that they have a chance of turning a profit.

Re: Legacy Auto Makers will not build an Electric Vehicle

http://www.evchargernews.com/miscfiles/sce-rav4ev-100k.pdf I would call 76-85% of original capacity some degradation. A Rav4 EV stickered for $42k, while a plain gas powered model was around $20k. That's going to be a tough sell to the general public. Adjusted for inflation, $42k becomes $55k, and w...

A sign of the times. Luxury items are the first to go. I would miss the Corvette more than the Tesla though...

Re: Legacy Auto Makers will not build an Electric Vehicle

It will be interesting to see how the service side of EVs plays out in reality. I still think that the servicing will be on par with a new bare bones automobile though, and there's no way the battery pack will go the distance that a combustion engine will

Re: Safe's Electric Bike Project #001

A Derbi GPR 50 comes stock with 9hp and will easily make 12-13 with bolt ons. I don't think a 1hp bike would have much appeal to race fans.
