Re: New Bafang Crank-Drives

If you turn the power setting down a notch do you still have the heat issue?
I am wondering if the continuous wattage drawn is more heat than it can get rid off?

Re: New Bafang Crank-Drives

The difference in temperature maybe down to gear selection, it is real easy to overload the crankdrive by using too high a gear. My BBS01 is warm (a long way from hot) after a 16 km ride with lots of hills and no rider assist, plus the last km is all up hill. I keep the gears set to allow the motor ...

Re: New Bafang Crank-Drives

Mount the motor so the rubber pad is sitting against the frame, it should never move again as the pad will prevent the torque from rotating the motor. I put a thicker pad on mine due to the offset of the frame to BB. The rubber pad cannot touch the frame in my case due to the shape. Anyway, how wou...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

I have my 36v pack made up of 2x 6s in parallel and 2x 4s in parallel including there balance plugs with an extention lead to use for charging and the alarms. So I just plug the 2x cell alarms into the 2 balance leads before I ride, it is also a good chance to check the balance as the alarms toggle ...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

You dont need to see the cell meter/alarms, they have a very loud piezo alarm that goes off when the preset voltage is reached by any cell.
I ride with mine tucked in the battery bag.

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

As others have said in use it is virtually silent, the only ti,e I hear it barely is at low gear and close to no load.
Just make sure the motor is off the frame or that the rubber pad is the only contact, I had to add an extra bit of rubber due to frame design.

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

Pick up the 5 volts off the brake cutoff lead Perfect ! I though they were just switches. Through crafting some longer Google queries at site:endless-sphere.com, I finally found the breakdown: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=50104&start=2700#p909779 I guess I can disconnect th...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

Does anyone know if there is a relatively easy way to pickup a trigger off the BBS02/750 without taking appart the motor/controller ? My goal is to electronically "turn on" a USB power port (and inverter) when the BBS02 is turned on using the standard soft switches on the C691 display. The end-goal...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

My guess is that it is to take the small shock load off the gears with the motor cutting in and out constantly if pedalling slowly, use a brake cut out and there is no issue with the 1/2 second and gives you a backup if your throttle breaks or jams. My throttle is a switch as soon as you turn enough...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

Real world results with a BBS01 is that letting the motor spinnout to close to its max revs delivers the lowest power usage, my last ride I used 8 Wh per km with zero pedal assist, I spin the pedals to run the motor but put out no effort, the ride was about 350m climbing, my previous ride used 9.4 W...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

I have an 8 speed Alfine hub on a Tonaro crank drive, you have to stop the motor to change gear, but you can change gear stationary, most hubs are like this, I have Sram 7 speed and Sturmley archer 3 speed that can be changed whilst stationary as well.

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

102mm is very short (but look usable), I have used 155mm and they are nice (on a recumbent trike), the 110mm I tried did not alow a lot of torque to get moving. If you don't mind the DIY finish look grab a kids 24" MTB crankset as alot are 155mm and cheap, cut away the spider and tidy up with grinde...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

Curious now though about wH / km? With the programming i run and my riding normal habits i seem to be getting about 4 - 5 wH/km "fuel economy". Hammering it ( for me), by using 85 - 100% current on PAS ( 15 - 18Amps draw) and being liberal on throttle use i'm getting about 9wH/km. Hmm.. at that rat...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

The battery voltage is not constant you started at 54.34v and low voltage cutout was at 41v, so the wh would be dependent upon how long each voltage was maintained, throw in voltage sag etc. your gauge would be the more correct wh as it was taken over the real world voltage curve. Nice result gettin...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

You will need the LCD which also has the PAS and on/off switch unit attached to it permanently, also the speed sensor although that can be setup on the ring on the cranks if you wanted to but you lose accurate speed indication. I suppose you could mount the lcd in the battery bag if you want it invi...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

Only thing I can suggest is unplug and reconnect the sensor lead incase it is not making a good connection, also visually check that all 3 pins are not damaged whilst its apart. The speed sensor is integrated with the motor. I can't unplug it :/ Are we talking about a BBS01or 02? All the ones I hav...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

@ astmacca, Yes I can think of one reason not to do the test, it will be running for ages as off the ground the load will drop to very low current usage due to almost no load. I have something similar although the tiny picture it is hard to be sure :) Mine is pretty accurate, your Wh look about righ...

Re: New Bafang Crank- DRives

For anyone wanting to mod brake switches to use with different levers etc. If you cut the lead off the provided hand brakes you will find a red (5v), black (0v) and blue wire (sensor output) , if you short blue and black it activates the brake switch cutting off the motor. So if you wish you can use...
