Re: Power switched off for less than a milli second

Loose sense wire or cold solder joint on the BMS could do it, if the BMS shuts off whenever it loses votlage on the sense wire (some of them just ignore that wire compeltely if there's zero voltage on it, which is why some packs die of overcharging or overdischarging a cell group when sense wires br...

Re: Adding PAS to EM3EV controller

As noted in your other thread, you CANNOT connect the pulse-type PAS directly to the 6-pin CA connector, and have it work as a normal PAS. It will NOT work to run the bike like you want it to. You will have to either use the CA or some other device to interpret the PAS pulses into a throttle signal....

Re: Intro battery pack

Keep in mind that a 10Ah pack run at 3C is only going to last 20 minutes at that rate. But that *should* be long enough, at 15-20MPH, to cover a round trip of 4-5 miles, easily enough. If you need 30A continous, Headway may not be a good option. They claim high C rates, but may heat up too much runn...

Re: Make: Fechters' Braking Regen Add-on for BLDC Motors

Thankfully all my rides are essentially on the flats, with the braking mostly needed at the many complete stops I have to make at traffic controls during my commute. But whenever I'm on the road, I'm almost always riding in traffic, and sometimes other traffic does stupid things I couldn't predict (...

Re: Zero motorcycle 2.8 battery question

If you wanna go 70mph, stick with the Zero. It'll probably cost as much as one (at least a used one) to build a bicycle that can be safely ridden at those speeds. (the first Zeros basically *were* high-end ebikes, more or less; maybe more dirt-bike like, rather like the Stealth series) As for motors...

Re: I bought an E Bike for my wife but she says its to slow

If the kit came with a regular throttle, you just replace it with your thumb throttle (unless you want both, in which case yes you'd use a y-cable). If it did not come with a throttle, then you would need to find out if it has a throttle input (not all kits do). If it does not, you may not be able t...

Re: Charging amps through JST balance wires

That's how almost all balancers work--they drain high cells, then restart charging, etc. It can take days, even weeks, for a badly balanced pack with bad cells to rebalance, and as soon as the pack is used again it's going to unbalance a little, and the more capacity is used, the deeper the discharg...

Re: Crystalyte/LiFePO4 preasembled ebike available anywhere?

If that's still true, you won't find any complete e-bikes with Crystalyte motors, because that's not what they do. Actually I just remembered there's the Stealth ebike series, at least the older ones. Dunno what they use these days. (and I don't think they use LiFePO4). Pretty expensive though. But...

Re: How to connect pas etc. to Infineon EB3 Em3 ..?

I would like to connect the 3wires pas, to the wires of the 6 pin C.A. of the controller to test, which wires do I connect to? (controller 6 pin): Unfortunatley, as I already said, you can't. It wont' work. It can't work, because there is no signal from that PAS unit that can tell the controller an...

Re: Charging amps through JST balance wires

Balancing a heavily disbalanced pack with a charger like the Q6 can take forever. I will NOT charge the low cells until it pulls down the high cells down to a reasonable level. The it charges ALL cells again. It's the same way almost all common BMSs balance, as well. When a cell (group) is as far o...

Re: [Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

Since the hall sensors are open collector devices, just giving them 5v doesn't let you test them. You also have to use a pullup resistor, say 10kohm ish, on each signal line to the power supply positive voltage. The simplest way is to just leave it hooked to the controller while it's powered on, oth...

By itself, it is more stable, but it is just as possible to cause a fire with it under the wrong conditions. And unattended charging seems to be one of the most common times that fires happen, with any chemistry. Riding or driving along and having it just burst into flame is the other. (most likely ...

Re: The SB Cruiser: Amberwolf&Dogman's 2WD CargoTrike&DogCarrier

Still rewiring the motor (found some phase wire to use, already had hall/etc wire ready). I think I've got two, maybe three viable designs of axle clamp to replace the inboard one with, so it would be "adjustable" to accomodate either the standard 10mm like on the HSR3548, or the 12mm I've built on ...

Re: bike went full throttle riding in the wet

Most cheap throttles have exposed legs on the sensor that need to be coated with some kind of insulator. Epoxy, silicone, or even nail polish will work. You need to completely cover the wires from the sensor to where they attach to the cable. Done properly, the throttle should work fine underwater....

Its taking forever for my last cell to get to 4.20. 4 cells are at 4.20 now but the last cell is at 3.88. Then the last cell (group) is defective and should be replaced. Such a huge difference in voltage means it is also different in capacity, so that cell will run out well before the others do, sh...

There are manufacturers that use LiFePO4 batteries, or at least have in the past, like Prodeco, but they generally don't use Crystalyte products, which are usualy found as kits or individual parts for DIY bikes. The catch with OEM complete ebikes is that they tend to be quite expensive compared to w...

Re: Why does my 12v charger output 24v?

The "charger" may not be a complete charger, but just an unregulated "linear" (transformer style) power supply. In those cases, without the designed-for load on them, their voltage may be very much higher than when it has the proper load on it. Another possibility is that the charger is designed for...

You'd have to check with the company that made the "power watcher" to see how to reset it, if it doesn't come with a manual on how to do that.

Or contact them for warranty repair/replacement, if they offer that.
