Re: Need a replacement controller for Bafang front hub

My son and I built him an electric kickbike a couple of years ago using a Bafang FR G020.500.D front hub in the rear. We run a P850c display, and run a 52v battery. Everything worked great until I decided to try to internally route the 1-to-4 cable and pinched it between the deck and the frame. Mus...

Re: Yamaha/Haibike battery won’t turn on. BMS dead?

Based on various posts about such systems, the BMS is probably "smart" in a way that tries to detect any conditions other than those expected by it, and whenever one occurs it bricks itself so the user can't "tamper" with it and get around any limitations the system may have from...

Re: Changing the battery of a 10-year old e-bike/e-scooter

It is very likely from the symptoms that the battery has failed from age, but that the rest of the system is working. Without a good battery to verify, can't say for sure, but it's a good starting point. The battery pack might be repairable, but if it is original from 10 years ago it is likely to re...

Re: Razor Ecosmart project: "The Sting Razor".

Some pointers below: Currently running some 12v 15ah batteries. Range is good, speed is not. For the same battery, range will go down when speed goes up, because air resistance will increase at the higher speed. With SLA batteries, you'll only get around half their capacity using them the way EVs do...

Re: Is 2s1p for SLA battery a bad idea?

Sounds like the controller does not actually monitor or limit current (common with cheap brushed controllers). Any current limit on it's label or specs is there to tell the *user* not to exceed it. We've seen so many of them just blow up from this on various brushed-motor scooters, bikes, toys...

Re: Nanjing far driver controllers

Based on that, it means the fardriver current is actually what you see from the CA, and any "messed up"-ness is something about the fardriver itself, which would mean it is not behaving the same as previous working controllers, either. The only other typical possibility is if the current d...

If you find a useful LED replacement headlamp that actually works like an incandescent does, as far as brightness and beam pattern out of it in a headlight fixture made for the standard incandescents, let me know, as I'd love to find something that doesn't waste as much power as heat as the Silvania...

Re: BMS only showing 5v out

There is a looped wire seen in one of the side pics and circled on the back of the board pic. I've cut and rejoined those and that made no change. No idea what that's for. Usually it would be for a thermal sensor (actually a thermal breaker) that would be embedded in the pack of cells. It usually l...

Re: 160 KW 72v Cntroller QS/Yuma 15KW 300A BMS

I bought the 2400Amp fardriver controller and paid but didn't receive it. I later got an email saying it would be an extra $700usd for shipping. I asked for clarification on this, and got no response. I look forward to them delivering the controller. At that price for shipping, it probably ought to...

Re: BMS only showing 5v out

Sorry my measuring tool is not exactly accurate - each cell is reading ~4V - could be 4.04V which would be 52.6V pack voltage. Its' ok, as long as you can see there is a relative difference between what cells read, charger reads, and BMS reads, it still shows there's probably an issue with the BMS ...

Re: Best controller for QS138 V3 70

I thought the purpose of a BMS was to protect the battery by controlling it's output? It is there to protect the cells, but it cannot control the output the way you are likely thinking. It can only turn off the entire power output, completely, or leave it on, fully. It's just switch, activated or d...

Am guessing at this point anybody that paid for stuff they didn't get yet probably isn't going to.

Why, who knows? Probably we'll never find out. :(

Re: BMS only showing 5v out

Voltage between Charge- and pack+ is around 5V Voltage between B- and pack+ is 52.6V Votlage between P- and the pack is 5V Well, that does indicate the BMS has turned off the ports, for whatever reason. BTW, if you have 4.0v on every cell, a 13s battery does add up to 52v that you read across (pres...

I would not count on the QS165 encoder working with your controller. I'm still having noise issues which is shown in the video below. Perhaps try adding a layer of Kapton tape between the PCB and the motor housing, and using nylon / plastic screws to secure it? (or plastic "tophat" washer...

Re: BMS only showing 5v out

The 5V out probably indicates the BMS has shutdown for one of the various safety limits. Is it a common-port (charge / discharge on same connector) BMS? If not, does it have the correct voltage on the charge port? If all the cells are presently within limits, read at the solder joints on the other s...

The Kenda tire that came on the A2B Metro motor presently in use on the rightside of the trike has been doing what every Kenda tire I've ever had does--the sidewall is disintegrating, flaking and peeling off. If you bought it new from Luna, they include a "tester" tool, plug that in to one of the harness plugs, and it will give you a blink code. Note what the blink code is, such as 2 fast 1 slow green/red, something like that, then contact Luna, and they will be able to tell you what the probl...

They can usually be ran at up to 48v without worrying about the motor surviving. Ok, so if I only ran one motor on the rear, like many "regular" adult tricycles, that should work fine and be much simpler, right? You can, and the rider should be able to get used to the assymetrical push of a motor only on one side; I've ridden two different delta trikes powered with a ...

So now I have another question, is the 15V supply necessary for other components on the KT controller or is it's sole purpose to be stepped down to 5V?
probably the gate drivers, possibly other things.
