Re: Something other than a hub or mid drive

If it helps, it's often called a "left side drive", if you want to see other examples of this general type of drive (which have used many different types of motors, including hubmotors mounted in the frame or on the swingarm). This is one possible search for posts containing the term, but ...

Re: Bafang 250, 350, 500 hub motors

Spec sheets aren't always complete, and I don't know if theirs is or not. So I don't know what the specific differences are between their models....but one of the biggest differences between *actually* higher wattage motors and lower ones is that they can dissipate more waste heat, or generate less ...

Another learning, go walk the hill you want the bike for PRIOR to purchasing something. This thing is just going to be a 'fishing trolley' to get to a remote spot (about 7 kilometers each way), it is steeper in sections than I'd anticipated, and will require some slow speed uphill grind over badly ...

Re: Bike died mid ride

When a system completely powers off, it's usually the BMS turning off it's output to protect the battery against damage that could lead to a fire (either within the battery or the devices connected to it), such as overcurrent (too many amps drawn by system) or overdischarge of low cells (problem in ...

Re: Sanyo NCR20650A Battery Rank D (?!)

You'd have to ask the specific seller how they rank their cells and what each classification level means. They may be honest about it, or just make something up, but at least you'll know what they say. If the box markings are from the manufacturer, you'd have to check with their testing info to see ...

Music, oh music. I love music. I played drums for about 10 years and currently play bass. I would put Nirvanas Nevermind cassette tape in my radio. It was a fancy radio that auto-played side 2. I would put on headphones and listen to that album while I fell asleep. I would close my eyes and imagine...

Re: Stealth bomber clone, 12kw shurdown

The most likely problem is a battery that is simply incapable of handling the current demand, for any of a number of reasons. The motor (or controller) wouldn't be the cause, unless it's simply that the battery isn't made to handle the power required to operate it. Is power completely shutting off? ...

Re: Lowering controller amperage

It probably is correct...but only taking 5A out of 25 isn't doing much to help a 250w motor at presumably a 48v battery (you don't say which one you have, but they're more common for "750w" systems than 36v would be). 48v x 25A = 1200w, so about 5x higher than the motor is meant for. 48v x...

Re: My Tong Sheng TSDZ2 motor randomly turns on

Has it ever experienced rain or humid conditions? If so, there could be corrosion within the button panel causing enough conduction in the on/off button to command it to turn on. (it may even randomly turn off while riding as well).

Re: Spin-out Fall-out

The most likely thing is that, even if it is not evident***, a phase wire shorted to a 5v sensor signal or supply wire. This puts battery voltage thru parts in the system that are not capable of handling that. If the high voltage fed into the 5v supply, then anything else fed by that supply, anywher...

Re: How to check a battery with a high mileage Zero S 2017r 50 thousand mileage

A comparison with a new one (that probably has a different battery type, probably different cells with different characteristics) won't really tell you about the battery in this specific Zero. It might give you an approximate estimate of the difference in capacity they have from each other...but onl...

Re: Total headless mode for BaseRunner? (No display, POS sensor or torque sensor)

No need to fake anything. Just hook up the throttle you wish to use, and set the BR/PR/FR up to use the voltage range it outputs, and respond the way you want it to. Once programmed to work with your specific motor and throttle and battery voltage, etc., the *runner controllers don't need to be conn...

It appears to be a switch to use one LCD on two controllers (talking to / displaying from and enabling just one of them at a time), and a separate switch to enable both at the same time. Whether it would work or not, for any particular setup, you would have to build and test it. It probably would no...

Was it a used item? Or new from a seller that does a lot of this type of business? If used, it could be defective (it could be even if new). Re: Taking Care of 52V battery in hot weather

Some notes: If you store it at a significantly colder temperature than that at which it was charged, the cells may be at a higher state of charge than they are meant for. If you know what model and brand of cell they are, you can see if there is a datasheed from the cell maker with SoC vs temperatur...
