Bafang Ultra Max Frames?

Looking to see what is available, I have seen a few here and there, but would like to see what others have found, it would be great if there were a cruiser frame out there (stretched cruiser even better!) but at least something in the "crank forward" or "flat foot" style like an electra! 8)

Re: Top Speed of Bafang Ultra vs. JuicedBikes CCX

Air Resistance is a limiting factor. The faster you go the more air resistance, so getting into an aerodynamic position you can gain more. This is a very valid point, most people who do testing will tell you that up to 20 mph there is very little aero drag to deal with, and it gets more and more of...

Uber Eats Delivery Ebike build

Been busy working, so taking the time to make a build log so anyone interested can learn from my mistakes! First off, if you plan on doing Uber Eats, your potential success is very much in the hands of fate meaning first off, you are NOT going to make any money unless there are deliveries to b...

Need NuVinci Invaritorc 638 Fluid please :)

Hello all, my beloved NuVinci N171b has finally got to the point that it is in need of serious over-haul, unfortunately, Fallbrooke Tech no longer supports it too the point of not even allowing any of their Invaritorc 638 fluid to be sold, so I am on the look-out for that or anything anyone else has...

Re: A123 Prismatic Replacement? Best LiFeP04 pack available today?

The AMP20 pouches are still availble, the price isn't too bad either. https://www.buya123products.com/goodsdetail.php?i=8 I used a 16S pack on my BBS02 touring bike for the first couple of years, I still throw it on the rack for longer range when I'm going further than my triangle pack will take me...

Re: A123 Prismatic Replacement? Best LiFeP04 pack available today?

Leaf or Volt modules would be cheaper, smaller and much lighter. By the time they are worn out better stuff will be available. 16 of those 60AH LiFePO4 cells would be very large and heavy. 6 used Leaf modules would be half the cost, smaller, lighter, etc. 7 might be a good choice for 14S 60AH. I'm ...

A123 Prismatic Replacement? Best LiFeP04 pack available today?

Hello all! So I am back to my first love, LiFeP04! 18650's are all fine and dandy, but I realized after promising my trusty ole' a123 16s 1p (52v 20ah) pack to a friend, that it was STILL ALIVE AND STRONG going on 10 - 15 yrs old!!!  I had already promised the pack, so not going to go...

Re: Shimano Nexus sg-3d55 Inter - 3 hub troubleshooting

I also found some great info from Sheldon Brown's website: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/shimano333.html The grease is pretty reasonable for this hub, but wow, the oil form is pretty expensive! Gonna have to save up for the $70 "maintenance oil" that it should be dipped in every 5000 km (3107 mi) I a...

Re: Shimano Nexus sg-3d55 Inter - 3 hub troubleshooting

Great thanks all! I am ordering a new hub so I can swap out the internals assuming the hub shell isn't damaged (hopefully not since both 1st & 2nd work fine) and then I can see what is going on with 3rd, or if there is a difference in the length of the push-rods, both of these hubs were ordered at m...

Shimano Nexus sg-3d55 Inter - 3 hub troubleshooting

Hello all, been running one of these Nexus Inter-3 IGH for about 8 months, and I'm having an issue with 3rd gear slipping. I think I might have run it a bit with out it being properly adjusted at first, hoping I didn't damage something, but I am running a BBS02 (Luna stock settings) so nothing crazy...

This is the best answer, but can you tellme how to do it? or even better show me a ES thread about it..... all I see in their 1000w motor......what would happen if I add more amps? more heat? their new 1500w motor shows the same graph...............

Re: How resilient are hub motors to wet and bumps?

+1 MR, I live in Oregon City, OR, we get almost as much rain as Seattle WA, and I have run DD hub motors (9C style mainly) and all I have ever done is use a drip loop to keep water from being directed inside the hub motor. Be careful how you seal things up, not allowing for water to evaporate out an...

Re: Casey Jones, Watch Your Speed! (Serious Ebike Accident)

I like the idea of the liberty trike, but I have been told no more Ebikes by family, and you're right, it might not be that he had this problem because of his injury, but I had been riding with him enough times to see him do some scary things that I am sure that if he realized, he would not be doing...

Casey Jones, Watch Your Speed! (Serious Ebike Accident)

On Monday 8/14/17 at about 7:30 in the morning, my father, riding his 36V 500Watt Ebike hit the side of an SUV that was parked with the rear side slightly into the street in a residential area near our house. He went through this rear side window face-first, and is very lucky to be alive. He is curr...

Re: Comparing DD vs geared motors : Best setup for city comm

The best hub motor setup for really heavy weights starts with a very small wheel, like 20", and a direct drive motor that can handle running at less efficient rpms. If the motor is big enough, run lots of power so you stay out of the inefficient rpm ( when heavily loaded) for the motor. I guess tha...

Welcome to ES my friend! I think what you are doing is great, I have a friend in India who is also into Ebikes, I am curious what are the laws concerning the size of the motors? All I see is 250W, is that because of more powerful motors being illegal or just too expensive? As to your search for a su...

Re: Sturmey-Archer 5-speed hub, it's real!

To the OP, sorry to see that it appears the 5-speed isn't quite as strong as you hoped, on the positive side, much as has been mentioned, you might get the best of both worlds even with the limited gear ratio of the 3-speed, since you can run higher voltage and "regulate by throttle" so that your in...
