Re: Hub Motor Kit

Voltage dictates the motor's running speed. The controller determines what range of voltage you can use with your kit; the motor itself has no voltage requirement. The controllers in those 48V kits will certainly run on 48V or 52V. I wouldn't expect them to work with higher or lower voltages than t...

Re: Which motor and battery for touring rinding with some hills

My biggest problem with mid drives has always been the drive train and maintenance. I had an older cyclone setup and it was great, but the maintenance drove me to hub motors. This might help https://www.sram.com/sram/mountain/family/ex1

Re: Which motor and battery for touring rinding with some hills

The xiongda being a two speed should be able to not produce a lot of heat as one is a low gear and the other is for higher speeds. My BBS01 sure is nice on some of the 6% grade hills I have here not far from Dogman.

Re: Which kit.. Stealth Geared hubs

So you have had bus drivers tell you that you can not put the bike on the rack. That sucks. I've never had an issue. Try to hide the motor the best you can, and put the battery in a triangle bag, or pannier bag. Most drivers would never have a clue. But you cant hide a mid drive very well can you. ...

FTR Dogman rode his cargo bike to my house from Las Cruces up a very formidable mountain through what the spanish called the Jornado del Muerto or Journey of the Dead.

Re: Which motor and battery for touring rinding with some hills

FWIW, that bikee is a mid drive. I never said a hub motor can't climb a hill. But I have done the tests, and fried the motors, exploring the real world weight, grade and length limitations of typical hub motors. I did this professionally, for a major e bike kit retailer I worked for. For a typical ...

Re: New Build with EGO 56V Home Depot Battery - Wow

I realize this thread has been going on awhile, but I thought I would share a very interesting video on how the EGO batteries might actually be built better (and potentially last longer. I am especially impressed with the built in heat management. I'm in the starting phase of building an electric d...

I am a fan of tool packs, but not for long rides like touring. Mid drives are great, but chain maintenance sucks.

Never dieted in my life, but I try to cut fast food out if I can and limit soda consumption. Drink beer on hot days and wine with meals that contain some fresh vegetables if possible. Ebikes cheaper?? You haven't been to a gas station or super market lately!!! Everything is going up. My little tax break doesn't cover the higher cost of gas, groceries and living!! Check out the price of razors next time you're shopping.
