Re: Why not comfort bikes?

I ride semi recumbents these days after starting out on MTB frames. I can't go back. They're both more efficient because of the aerodynamic advantage, and dramatically more comfortable. Add a motor on, and you've negated the disadvantage in riding one uphill. I don't understand why uprights are sti...

Did anything ever come of this? I've been obsessing about 2 speed gearboxes lately and remember this concept from years ago. I recall there was another member that did this as well but I can't seem to find the thread.

Re: Woodgas/Biogas vs DIY Electric

Winter is coming soon. If someone had a Freehold property they are living in, meaning no silly condo/strata rules. To reduce heating cost in the winter, a woodgas contraption going to a generator, that then powers heaters in the house. Maybe even find an electric water heater instead of gas, reduce...

Re: Woodgas/Biogas vs DIY Electric

Living in the desert southwest where wood is not very plentiful. I do my part by burning scrap wood for cutting my heating bill in winter. I have a very efficient stove, but gathering enough free wood just to heat it is a PITA. I just use my wood stove to heat from dead tree limbs and grapevines.

Re: interrupted charging, top up vs continous to full

One data sheet I looked up shows the cell to be .2c ? That's a pretty weak discharge for battery. So lower c rate cells sag more than higher c rate cells.

No battery expert for sure, but my old lifepo4 pack was always more stronger through discharge than lipo.

Re: Delete facebook for the good of humanity!

There are an incredible amount of shitty 'group' owners across all social media sites. Endless Sphere is a rare gem in that moderation and ownership are generally a hands off affair. We err on the side of intervening too little. Nobody on the moderation team likes banning anyone; it's less like 'fr...

And it's double the horsepower... But to keep it in budget I would look for a used 1000w scooter on craigslist and soup it up.

Re: Scored a converted E-Bike for $75!

Nice score. My best find was a 50 buck ford think e bike. It had a 24v brushed mid drive, which liked to eat controllers. Original controller was fried, and it fried another right way. You had to ride it very careful, avoiding amps spikes. I keep trying to find a broken trek, or bbso2, but in my to...

Re: List of small hatchback cars

Occasionally Toyota puts out some real garbage. You cannot trust them to do everything right. Toyota Matrix 1.8L manual transmissions fail around 75k miles. The 2.2L engine was famous for engine sludge. The 2.4L engine that came after that had engine sludge issues and oil burning / consumption issu...
