Re: Want Go-kart motor & electronics recommendation

And it's double the horsepower... But to keep it in budget I would look for a used 1000w scooter on craigslist and soup it up.

https://www.electricmotorsport.com/emc-r-ls-me1004-pmdc-motor-24-48v-10-75-hp-cont-21-hp-pk.html I recommend brushed motors for simplicity and this motor is cheap and easy to control with right controller. Cheap, really? Are you saying nothing cheaper would be worth recommending for kids mucking ab...

Re: Scored a converted E-Bike for $75!

Nice score. My best find was a 50 buck ford think e bike. It had a 24v brushed mid drive, which liked to eat controllers. Original controller was fried, and it fried another right way. You had to ride it very careful, avoiding amps spikes. I keep trying to find a broken trek, or bbso2, but in my to...

Re: List of small hatchback cars

Occasionally Toyota puts out some real garbage. You cannot trust them to do everything right. Toyota Matrix 1.8L manual transmissions fail around 75k miles. The 2.2L engine was famous for engine sludge. The 2.4L engine that came after that had engine sludge issues and oil burning / consumption issu...

Re: Hub Motor Kit

Voltage dictates the motor's running speed. The controller determines what range of voltage you can use with your kit; the motor itself has no voltage requirement. The controllers in those 48V kits will certainly run on 48V or 52V. I wouldn't expect them to work with higher or lower voltages than t...

Re: Which motor and battery for touring rinding with some hills

My biggest problem with mid drives has always been the drive train and maintenance. I had an older cyclone setup and it was great, but the maintenance drove me to hub motors. This might help https://www.sram.com/sram/mountain/family/ex1

Re: Which motor and battery for touring rinding with some hills

The xiongda being a two speed should be able to not produce a lot of heat as one is a low gear and the other is for higher speeds. My BBS01 sure is nice on some of the 6% grade hills I have here not far from Dogman.

Re: Which kit.. Stealth Geared hubs

So you have had bus drivers tell you that you can not put the bike on the rack. That sucks. I've never had an issue. Try to hide the motor the best you can, and put the battery in a triangle bag, or pannier bag. Most drivers would never have a clue. But you cant hide a mid drive very well can you. ...

FTR Dogman rode his cargo bike to my house from Las Cruces up a very formidable mountain through what the spanish called the Jornado del Muerto or Journey of the Dead.
