Re: Is it possbile to add sin/cos encoder to the HUB?

Ctirad,
You may want to look at AS5047P High-Resolution Position Sensor. Good for 28krpm and 14 bits resolution on position. Also, has dynamic correction. Would have to mount on one side of a dual output shaft. Contact me by PM if you would like to see a PCB for this.

Re: serial battery block project

another update, The acrylic blocks were machined for the cell connection tabs. Here is a pic of where the tabs are in the top and bottom acrylic blocks. The pic includes the top block with the PCB attached (sits on top of the connection tabs and provides the 4-40 set screw hardware so the connection...

Re: serial battery block project

another update, Here is a pic of the connector PCB with the 18650 contact tabs attached. I will mention again that this is 15A max (5C), so, eight battery blocks can give you 120A, assuming that the BMS controller sees that all the battery blocks are within a voltage tolerance. I will post pics of t...

My long term interests are projects and technology directed toward single passenger urban commuting technology/vehicles. Unfortunately, not too much thought process or activity in the US aca...

Re: Enlighten me please: why focus on P connections, not S?

kevbo, Surely you are trying to start an argument (I am smiling). I am a strong proponent of serial blocks that are paralleled. I am also not a proponent of spot welding or permanently fixed cell to cell connections. You can PM me if you want to discuss alternatives. I am not interested in arguing o...

serial battery block project

I thought I would share some info on a University senior student project that is being planned for Fall 2017. My interest is specifically serial battery blocks connected in parallel as part of single passenger urban commuting vehicle technology development (fancy trikes/velomobiles). I have some com...

2017 battery architecture resolutions?

Anyone have detailed plans for battery architectures? For example, 1. No spot welding designs so easy repair of individual cells. 2. Serial blocks that are paralleled. 3. Single active balance BMS to manage all the blocks sequentially. 4. A BMS that actually controls the motor control action relativ...

I am curious if anyone on this forum has ever had any direct contact with ARPA-E either via direct funding or through a academic grant relative to battery management systems technology? Thank you for responding.

Re: actual 18650 cell anode end dimensions

bowlofsalad, A button top is just as it says. Primarily designed for flashlights, etc., or cell holders. And, NO, the tolerance on the cell has nothing to do with the 0.2mm at the top. I personally think that the 0.2mm is consistent with the thickness of the isolation rings that are available. Put t...

actual 18650 cell anode end dimensions

I am wondering why Sony provides the attached JPG of their VTC5 cell dimensions and yet when I communicate with cell suppliers they say that the anode top is absolutely flush with the shrink wrap edge. Can anyone shed more light on this question?

Re: Revolt motor std shipping to USA, how long?

Amazing, arrived without any notice by USPS this morning. What good is tracking when you get the item before USPS posts tracking information. So, for anyone who is interested, 7 weeks shipping for standard to USA. Packaging is excellent and initial inspection shows no damage to the motor inspite of ...

Re: Revolt motor std shipping to USA, how long?

Wheazel, Thank you so much for responding. It was shipped through Israel post on Dec 20. This is now about 40 days so almost 6 weeks. This is for a student project to electrify a tadpole trike (special frame provided by Performer), so time is not critical, I just do not want it to get lost in ether.

Revolt motor std shipping to USA, how long?

Hello, Anyone who has had a Revolt motor shipped standard shipping (I assume by boat container first to US), can you indicate what the length of time it took to get your motor via USPS? Thanks. Mine is on/in some container on a slow boat and it has been over 5 weeks. Still no indication that USPS ha...

Allex, Thanks for posting that part of his reply. There is a bit more, has to do with "potential twitchy throttle response"? I can understand the regen part, I do not quite understand what the throttle response has to do with my question (probably has to do with microcontroller's ability to recogniz...

Velias,
We have a solution for the problem you mentioned. Glad you read the data sheet. Are you referring to the LT8584 at Linear Tech? If so, it does not have the same functionality. Ti is not responding to any questions and it takes too many parts. Thanks for responding.

N-cell serial bat blocks connected in parallel - BMS concept

Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

I have asked Allex about the maximum phase amp setting that can be set on the MiniE. My issue is that for a student project, I want the students to use a DC power supply 75V/40A to test the mechanical parts of a trike drive system with a RV100Pro motor. I do not want to have the students work with b...
