Re: 36/72V switch for Solar charging my bike

I have 2 36v packs that terminate into a Anderson plug that has 4 connector . I then have a matching 4 connector Anderson plug that series the two 36v packs to 72v that goes to the controller . I made a charge plug that plugs into the 36v packs that parallels the 2 packs to one . So when I what 72v ...

Hi I have the 72v 5A satiator with 2 36v Bosch battery packs each 12 A. I normally charge them in at 36v@ 5A ( 180watts/hr.)if I am not in a rush. When on the road and need a fast charge I series the 36 v packs and charge at 72V @ 5A (360 watts/hr.)

Re: 18V cordless tool battery packs, brand for most value Ah/$

If you are looking to have a 36 v system you would need pairs of 18v packs. So 4 X18v@5A would give a 36v@10A battery. You could then use a 36v charger to charge, or unplug the series harness and use a 18v charger. I use thin strips of metal about 1/4 in wide and fold over until it thick enough to s...

Re: 18V cordless tool battery packs, brand for most value Ah/$

I have only used Bosch 18/36 v packs. I leave them unopened and use sheet metal folded over to get a nice tight connection on the slide in terminals then wire them to each other to get 36v packs. I then series the 36v packs to get 72v. I had good success doing this and had no problems so far. For ch...

Re: Questions about ebike rims

I had the same problems trying to get a rim online here in Canada . I found a local bike shop that does wheel building and got a Alex DM21 for 30.00 cdn also Sapin 14/13 spokes . You need a 26 in down hill double walled, 36 hole, rim brake compatible rim. Most good brand name rims are ok.

I parallel my packs together to get maximum power . also this causes less stress on your battery . Using only 1 battery at a time would not be a good idea and would shorten your battery lifespan

When changing controllers you may need to adjust R shunt value if using a Cycle Analyst to the new controller to get maximum power.

Most 26 in DH rims are a good choice

I use a Alex DM24 with Sapin 14/13g butted stainless steel spokes. It is very strong and have had no problems in 15,000 km

You mentioned your tire is 2.2 cm

I live in Ottawa, have been riding my ebike for 10 years. My bike is 'not legal' 3000 watts. I have never been stopped by police. As mentioned you need to be responsible and drive with accordance to laws. Here in Ottawa only the 'moped type ebikes' are banned from the NCC bike path
