Re: DIY Battery Upgrades for Goped ESRs
6S Lipo packs actually works pretty well in the ESR. Comparable performance with the SLA powered version and the stock charger does a good job using something like a Chargery DB8 to keep the cells balanced and managing pack charging. I run a 6s4p (20Ah total) setup in my daughter's ESR. Since her ma...

Re: Ebikes.ca Cycle Lumenator is Here
Hi, I was warned that it's best they not be left on in still air. That sounds lame. If you want high output and small footprint, heat is going to be somewhat of an issue. I use a Cree LED tactical style flashlight mounted to my firefighter helmet. Its only rated at 190 lumens but the machined alumi...

Re: Are set screws dangerous?
Been using set screws for years. Use em on the drive sprockets of my 40+ mph stand-up gas scooter without ever having any issues after thousands of miles with the constant vibration of a 2-stroke. I do favor self-locking set screws over using thread locking compound and I always use a new one if I r...

Re: I need a little Hydrazine. Anyone got some?
My only point in my original comment was because I stumbled on the DEET for LSD synthesis while researching Hydrazine. I suppose it really isn't significant to most folks but I have some basic knowledge of the traditional chemistry and that one was new to me. I guess I shouldn't be surprised at such...

Re: I need a little Hydrazine. Anyone got some?
This topic lead me to do a little reading. Off-topic but I was surprised to learn illicit LSD production can include distilling OFF brand bug spray with sodium hydroxide to obtain diethylamine from the breakdown of the DEET. I'm familiar with meth production because of my professional background but...

Re: Various destructive cell test videos. Lots of fire :)
Luke... I truly look forward to watching these videos when I get a moment. But I immediately picked up on your potential vapor exposure from the lipoly test you mentioned. Not to be a neagtive nancy, but I would strongly caution you to avoid any future exposure what so ever to the Lipoly fumes . It...

Having to scroll posted images is way annoying
Maybe its been covered but is it new within the last few weeks that we must scroll to view many of the images posted? Is there a way to make the window a little larger at least so reasonably sized images can be viewed without having to scroll, say maybe 800x600?

In my own personal experience as an emergency service provider... Do you see any issues with aged seat belts? The ones on my '98 seems to have gone soft so that they tend to bear more like ropes than webbing. I have never seen a seatbelt that failed in an automobile accident and I've been to many v...

Re: HELMETS...?
It would seem to me that there is a potential to strike one's head with greater force if falling from the saddle of a bicycle in motion compared to walking through one's home. Automobiles have undergone many mandated changes to their interiors to lessen the incident of serious head injury as compare...

Re: Prius Acceleration Hoax?!
I drive a 65,000 pound emergency vehicle with a wired throttle. Stay out of my way! I flattened the entire front end of a Kia Optima once. Drove right over the hood with the dual rear axles as I negotiated a tight corner. I bet the driver was pissed to find their crushed car and a ticket on the wind...

Where's the mandate for eyewear? It's a far more necessary piece of equipment than helmets? I'm all for better educated and trained riders. I'm also okay with eye protection. However I've never been witness to anyone with a serious eye injury that has been left drooling on themselves, crapping in t...

Re: Welding Procedures
I have two spool guns for my Miller machine. I used one spool gun for aluminum, the other for stainless. Most of my welding is mild steel so I just use the large bulk rolls for steel. The spool guns make changing to different materials a lot easier and I consider a spool gun mandatory for aluminum. ...

Well over a year ago I remember seeing footage on CNN of many different residences in a particular geographical area being able to light their water on fire directly from the faucet. Sure didn't seem staged.

Re: Learn how to do the Heimlich Maneuver... now!
The Heimlich is a simple and effective maneuver and choking isn't all that uncommon, especially as we age. The biggest problem is the layperson distinguishing real choking from gagging or other reflexes. Choking involves the trachea and lower airway, not the esophagus with which food normally passes...

I've got eight Headways I've had sitting on my workbench in my garage since just before last summer. The garage has no climate control and I'm on the Gulf Coast in Florida. If you charge batteries without a smoke alarm, you are bloody stupid. That is all I was trying to say. Smoke alarms come in handy for people that don't have to worry about battery charging as well. However I wouldn't be at all surprised someone here will rationalize having a smoke alarm somehow act...
