Re: Kerry femur fail

What is it about Irish guys and bike crashes lately? (Kerry is a County in southwest Ireland). Bono broke his wrist or hand while riding a bike and still cannot play guitar again. (I can pick on them because I have plenty of Irish blood in me). -Maybe it's their age, rather than ethnicity. Both were...

Re: Formula E championship starts today!

I watched my first Formula E race today on TV. The circuit was at an airport in Berlin.
The racing was very close. I like the pit stops too. They just swap cars.

Re: Electric Bike(selling/commuting) reality show

I think an E-bike reality show would get great ratings as long as it contained plenty of infidelity, treachery, substance abuse, marriage counseling, sex changes and the usual reality show fare. Seriously, a show similar to Motorweek, but focused on electric powered vehicles, could be successful. It...

Re: Segways win approval for Swiss bike lanes

In Arizona, people would would walk their dogs, push baby strollers and everything else in the bike lanes, rather than use the abundance of sidewalks. A Segway in the bike lane certainly wouldn't slow things any further.

Definitely attend the Tour de Fat. The only way not to enjoy it is if you hate bikes AND beer.
We used to have one every Oct in Austin but haven't had one for two years.
Ebikes are welcome.

Re: flpping electric bicycles on craigslist???

I think your best bet is to advertise yourself as an "installer" as mentioned above. That way, you have no capital investment, except for your tools. The new mid-drive kits are tougher to install than a hub motor kit, increasing the demand for experienced installers. You could also build custom, in-...

I an impressed at how you assembled the test trike without welding.
Swapping the small front wheels for some larger bicycle wheels will require some chassis changes, but shouldn't be difficult.

I owned a VW Jetta Diesel for about 5 years. I loved the engine but hated the electrical system. Always a bulb out or fan motor broken, I'm done with VW.

Had a similar problem. Took my throttle apart and found the magnets had come loose, as in a previous post.
-I put everything back in place and reassembled the throttle. Runs great.

Re: Is a bolt together frame a bad idea?

Bolting flat pieces together to create frame tubes will be heavy, as noted above.
However, motorcycle frames sometimes include an aluminum back bone section of frame, bolted to a steel section of frame.
You may be onto something.

I heard those Honda prototypes actually had a gear box, rather than deraillers or internal shifting hub. Down hill racing bike development
has slowed a lot.

I like em, spinningmagnet. I sold my road bikes a few years back because of the danger of riding solo on our local narrow, high speed roads. I ride a lot of sidewalks and dirt paths now. My bike commute to work is almost all sidewalk.

It would be legal in a lot of places if it was a three wheeled vehicle. I'd like to build one of those and drive it to one of those drive-through Margarita joints.

I would expect rejection from a bike shop in certain areas of the country, but I would never expect that to happen in the Bay Area. Businesses that refuse to change with the times eventually go out of business (like Eastman Kodak). Imagine if Steve Jobs had decided that hand held electronics were ju...

Re: mid drive mount on recumbent bike

I don't see why the GNG wouldn't work if it mounts to the bottom bracket. You may need to come up with an extra strut that would bolt to the motor and connect to the frame with a clamp.
If you don't want to tinker with the extra bracketry, I guess you could use a hub motor kit instead.

Re: have an ebike but want to upgrade to an electric scooter

The electric scooters are not selling that well these days. I heard Vectrix has gone under. I have heard that the pedals on some of the scooters have short crank arms and don't work very well. I think you get a lot more range and performance from a good electric bicycle. We have a subforum on this s...
