Stuck Pully shaft key - Lightning Rods Small Block

Hi folks, Been a while since I've posted... Cause I've had no problems with my early generation Lightning Rods Small Block Mid Drive Kit. To my surprise it's bike parts that wear out, but the LR small block has been a reliable machine. In case you don't know about the kit learn more here : http://ww...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Greetings LR kit users. I havn't posted on here for a while... cause nothing's been broken for a while. Is the blackspire still the recommended part to use as a tensioner for the LR kit ? Mine's looking very chewed up. https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/au/en/blackspire-chainguide-standard-roller/r...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

I've contacted a few bike shops, hardware shops. Bolt shops. No one has anything M12 1mm thread. Regardless of length or head. There maybe a rare industry somewhere that has something but I haven't found it. One place offered to make one for $80 and 3 weeks to produce it. I've ordered something chea...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Australia is a big Country, because you ask such question , do you live out in a low populated area ? What is the nearest big city to you with a bike shop , that will take your credit card and post a set to you ? I've contacted LBS, they had never seen this bolt before. I gave them some details to ...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

I've just had the chainwheel freewheel in my LR 1500w kit replaced by a LBS. I recall seeing a post about the longevity of a chainwheel freewheel being greatly affected by ramp up of power as opposed to slamming power suddenly through the parts. I have a grintech cycle analyst 3 controlling my syste...

Thats a great price by the way Mike.

To get two of these from http://lightning-rods10.mybigcommerce.c ... freewheel/ would have cost a lot more.

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

My local bike shop says they can't get their hands on these freewheels.
http://lightning-rods10.mybigcommerce.c ... freewheel/

Its going to cost me loads of cash to import these freewheels into Australia.

Does anyone know if they are stocked somewhere in Australia ???

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

My Chainring freewheel is on its way out after about 250km of riding bush tracks.

What kind of life are you guys getting out of yours ?

Is there Crossfire branded Chainring freewheel that came with the kit the best one I could get for this purpose ?

Cheer's :)

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Thanks for posting the pics of cheakyblokes setup. Looks like he may have the domino throttle. domino.gif This particular throttle has caugh my eye, as there is one side of it that is almost flush with the rest of the hand grip. And may give me room to get my small stuby fingers reach to trigger shi...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

I have the Lyen controller Mike sell's with his kit + a full twist throttle that mike also sold me. I found the control to be pretty good. I like your suggestion of left grip shift for rear gear control, in that case I would try a half twist throttle on the right side, as I've heard it offer's less ...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Right hand throttle and trigger shifters: Thanks for your Input Alan B, I had my bike setup exactly the same way, shifting is not a big deal on the road, but once you get onto a bumpy dirt track, with logs, rocks, tree roots, its very dangerous. I had to release my grip on the bike, and slid my pal...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Remus if your off road is rough enough to be dangerous when moving your hand over, I personally would advise against pedal throttle. Turning your crank to get the right foot position means it would kick forward even when you don't want... each to there own, but it felt dangerous to me even more so ...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Hi all, I'm currently searching for a bike to re boot my e mtb hobby. Something I had a lot of trouble with my last build was shifting the rear gear with standard trigger shifter's mounted on the right side, which I had to move inboard to make room for the full throttle. The main problem is that I h...

I don't sell the adjustable lower bracket any longer. The 68mm small block is the most basic layout. Also in stock. Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Hi Guy's. I'm looking to mount the kit onto a replacement bike, as I've sold the Kona Coiler I had. I'm going to be going with a much simpler bike, something like this : http://images.allbids.com.au/photos/act/12231/12231-2.jpg I've contacted a seller of a Raleigh Mojave 1.0 in my size, and they gav...
