This Is great news. It's a win win for A123 and the hobbyist community. After watching this thread I feel very comfortable purchasing through StorTronics and will be soon.

Re: This is how A123 care about quality control

Maybe I really shouldn't be on here at all, giving loads of free technical advice, helping speed resolution of complaints, and sending parts to people all over the globe--for free--so that they can build packs the right way. Maybe it's time for me to leave this place altogether. Your call, folks. I...

Re: A123 20AH cells source?

I requested a quote from StorTronics on the ANR26650M1-B cell, they priced it at $10.50 a cell or $8.75 for a purchase of 100. They also added about the pouch cells "We do intend to stock the AMP20 cells. We currently have AMP20’s on order with A123 and expect delivery any day."

Re: A123 20AH cells source?

Just to let anybody interested in A123 pouches. "buyA123batteries" do not sell A123 cells anymore, they are not A123 dealer anymore I just got this emailed to me from A123 on 3/6/15, some ANR26650M1-B cells showed up on the site the next day in the inventory area, you might want to watch there or c...

i'm considering a build with these cells as well. good thread , interesting designs- but i plan on spot welding these How are you planning on doing the spot welds? once you figure out howto measure IR/capacity, make sure you match the cells that have close ratings I purchased a Thunder AC680 charge...

Re: Battery Pack Build - A123 ANR26650M1A Cell (B-GRADE)

I had Batteries Plus spot weld a small A123 M1 26650 pack back in 2009. It saved alot of hassle and kept the cells clear of my heavy duty soldering iron. I think I’m going to go the Batteries Plus route when I'm ready to commit to a pack size. I did get cheaper cells since I’m sure I’ll make some m...

Re: Battery Pack Build - A123 ANR26650M1A Cell (B-GRADE)

The question i still have is how would you group cells with different IR. Lets assume i have cells with 30mOhm and 35mOhm resistance. I purchased my cells directly from A123 so I’m hoping they were manufactured close together and should have close to the same chemistry. I also purchased 12 extra ce...

Re: Battery Pack Build - A123 ANR26650M1A Cell (B-GRADE)

How do you plan on assemling the packs without solder or welding? Using Battery Clips from Mouser.com (Part # 534-209) attached to a Copper Strip from McMaster.com (Part # 8964K721) (see the link at the beginning of this thread). It should be just enough to hold the cells in place for the electrica...

Battery Pack Build - A123 ANR26650M1A Cell (B-GRADE)

I’m going to build my first LiFePo4 pack. I want to start by thanking everyone on this site for sharing their knowledge and experiences, without that I wouldn’t have known where to begin. I’m going to start by building packs that I can assemble and disassemble for my initial testing to ensure the pa...

Well maybe not... While the EV market may develop over the long term, Leiker said a lure to buy A123 is acquiring a lithium technology that Johnson Controls can use sooner - for the next generation of starter batteries or start-stop batteries. "What I took away from it is this has as much, if not mo...

A123 files for bankruptcy!

It appears that Johnson Controls is going to buy the automotive assets. I wonder if this might make A123 batteries more accessible now.

BR549, Cool project, a single cell LiFePo4 solar charger. I need a charge controller bad, but I need to go from low voltage from my solar panel to 4-8 times the voltage at the battery. Can that controller be tuned to that kind of range or do I need to come up with a voltage multiplier first? I have...

A123 20ah PRISMATIC CELL from A123rc (Solar Charger)

I purchased one A 123 20ah PRISMATIC CELL from A123rc for $41.49 USD. The cell measured 3.281v.

My goal is to figure out how to safely charge and discharge the battery at this point.
