Re: RUST: DIY Hub Motor Repair & Restoration
Greetings ES peoples - Gosh, it’s been 5 years since the repair, and I’m here to report that’s about how long it lasts. Yes, it’s been 5 epic years and 10,000 miles before the RWD blew out the bearings last week. It started as a vibration, a slight flutter, like I was riding over a well-worn road, b...

Re: Tuning a 36V/4A Charger: HP8204L3
Hello iA - This is an old thread for sure. I just happened to have that charger right next to me for a completely different use. I took the bezels off both ends to evaluate, and I concur - the PCB is firmly emplaced. The unit appears to be a one-way construction with no plan to service it. In the po...

Re: 6-FET, WZK-713C controller, Zhongtian
Hi Pancho – Oye, ¿cómo va? Thanks for the Schematics amigo! Searching Google on "xc866 controller MBC", I found an Infinion Spec Sheet: "8-Bit SAA-XC866". MBC means "Monitor & BootStrap Loader Control" and is on Pin-1. The MCU Reset is on Pin-38. Confirmed on my sch...

Re: Infineon 6FET EB777 25A Review
Hi Pancho – Apologies for the late reply; I was busy last night doing what I do – write code. But now I’m here for you. Trivia about the PCB: The FET: http://www.irf.com/part/75V-Single-N-Channel-HEXFET-Power-MOSFET-in-a-TO-220AB-package/_/A~IRFB3607 RDS(on) = 9 mOhms!! 75V limit. 140W (via Digikey)...

Re: Infineon 6FET EB777 25A Review
Hi Pancho – It is an old thread! :) Could you take a nice clear picture of both sides of the PCB please? I can try to answer some of these: 1. Unsure; picture is worth a 1000 words 2. Correct on my schematic. 3. Unsure, other than monitoring Phase C. 4. EBS = Electric Brake Switch. Typically this is...

do you think it is possible to modify a "Meanwell RS-150-48" (Out: 48V 158W, fanless) to provide 300V DC Output-Voltage ? Hello Runout – Thank you for the question - however I’m not an Electrical Engineer; my forte is Electromechanical Engineering which is a bit more on the component desi...

Shingles On Thanksgiving 2014 – I began to have symptoms of head/chest flu that grew immediately worse of the next couple of days, and it really laid me out for about three weeks. By the time I started feeling normal again – about December 19th, I had contracted Shingles which evidently likes to at...

Spring Update 2015 New Headlights Some time ago during the last winter I upgraded the headlights to throw a lot more light onto the road. Previously the dual Cree UniqueFire 300 Lumen setup just seemed to be getting dimmer with time. I swapped these out with a pair of high-powered triple-LED flashl...

Thanks Richard :) Understood; I will try to get a better picture of that over the next few days. Warrantee? We don't need no stinking warrantee  Although I am super curious if the 1500 Lumen would have had the same voltage or maybe another LED; I'll take a look next time I'm at HD. A future so...

Tying in another thread for reference: E-bike Roadkill? No, just Roadstunned I hit a raccoon tonight on the way home; not at all thrilled :( I was on a short stretch of road that divides the urban part of Redmond from the rural part, and there's a moderately large stream ("Bear Creek") in ...

7. Torque (τ) = Force (F) * 2 * Radius (r) This is where I got lost. I'm very new to e-biking, but didn't think classical mechanics had changed that much. :) Interesting thread nonetheless. No worries – the 1k are P L E N T Y bright by a factor of 3X each. 8) I disassembled one u...

Yes, the Cree flashlights have drivers built in. I have searched for candidates though fear that I am not well-adept in this field. Thus I ask for a lil’ help or boot up my backside in the general direction. My local Electronics supply carries NTE components; spendy but then it's same-day service. O...

I challenge you to find the one slightly incorrect statement in my previous post, though the difference it makes is insignificant. Don't bother trying t...

Umm, I think there is some confusion here… I never said low-winds on small wheels will perform identical to high-winds on large wheels. What I said was -> You can take a high-wind motor and place it on a larger diameter tire to increase Kv and decrease Kt, and vice versa on lower-wind motors....

Re: MXUS 3000 Hub Motor
Defining Speed – using mathematics If we know the Power (P) and the Tire Size (given C, r, or d), theoretically we can calculate Speed (Linear Velocity, mph, kph). Mechanical Power (P) (kW) = (τ (Nm) * 2π * rpm)/60000 ω = 2π * Revolutions per second (rps) τ = Force (F) * 2r Electrical Power (P) = C...
