Re: Tested my Panasonic cells (Opus), unsure of results

Capacity is spot on i would say. IR for the pf should be about 29 to 30, thats personal results on my gear using 4 wire test. If the IR of the cells are close thats what counts regardless of the testing method. I would balance them them to 3.7 ish V before testing Ir and warm them up to room temp. 1...

Re: Alternative to soldering - How is this done?

Before soldering I like to punch a few holes in the strips. Simply use an awl to punch a small hole in your strips using some soft wood underneath, flip it over repeat on the back side flatten your strip out with a hammer or whatever tool. Now solder both sides and make sure it the solder sucks up t...

Re: BOSS LEVEL CUSTOM SPOT WELDER

The welds look ok but you may want to rethink your design. Using insulators on the positive cells is much safer. My main concern is the extra tab between the cell ends. This is not good and could cause a dead short if you melted the thin plastic wrap. Double up on the tabs if necessary, but don't we...

Re: Ultra Cheap 66160 30Ah LTO - Or Scam?

These batteries will be great if they last 30,000+ cycles i'm very interested in your results. Something to consider. A cheap and powerful load could be created with lots of air flow and a lot of short paralleled nichrome wires . Creating a load with nichrome wire is easy. You can tune it with lengt...

Re: Mounting this Battery Box

These boxes are usually flimsy plastic. Thin and brittle in the cold. They do the job when mounted to the floor of your boat. All they do is keep out the elements and keep your battery from moving around when strapped down thats it really. This box wont survive a fall. Look for something more rugged...

Re: Spot welder doesn't work with 0.15mm pure nickel

All of these welders are under powered for the job. Some things you can try. Take out the welding tips and sharpen them up, the smaller the contact the hotter the weld. The copper used to weld with may be low quality and may need to be filed every few dozen welds. Try also reducing the pressure the ...

Its a ping 16s life pack. You can count the 16 channels on the bms. I had one open last week it's Identical in every way. Silicone on bms, balance plugs and the clear spiral wrap. Ping 15AH 16S 3P 48V lifep04 Balanced cells at 3.3 is good I would want to charge it up and see if it balances then hold...

My experience with Tumich. I'm located in Ontario. Great communication Cheap shipping and it took about 3 and a half weeks for 100 pf cells. I'm not gonna say $ because It was cheap really cheap, I think I got an early adopters rate. No duties were paid, they just delivered them to my door. They wer...

Re: BC168 18650 Charge Capacity Testing Question

It will tell you how much energy goes back into a cell. If you charge very slowly 0.5 amps it will get you within 5%.
Not the most practical for testing purposes, but It is a tool than can be used to compare cells.

Re: am i shafted with some fake steel nickel strips?

I believe those chart ratings need to be revised there is no mention of strip length.
Usually strips lengths between cells are pretty short I bet most packs can pull many times these ratings without heat issues.
Maybe Justin will perform some testing on this some day.

Re: 18650 pack got extremely hot - WTF?

Capacity test won't show everything especially @ 1amp draw you should test them with at least 2.5 amp draw Pay close attention to the cells temperature. Unless your only going to pull 12 amps from your pack then your good. I have had cells with high internal resistance give equal or more capacity th...

Re: 18650 pack got extremely hot - WTF?

You owned up to your mistakes I can respect that. I'm guessing you did your full capacity tests then built your pack with virtually no energy left in them because you should of had a plasma event when you dropped that bad connection on the cells. I'm guessing one parallel group being shorted would g...

Re: JP spot welder

Here's my set up for the fabulous JP Welder. :D I'm afraid recycled 18650 cells and a discarded wall wart from years ago are not worthy of such an incredible welder  but it all works really well. I tried a few welds on leftover cells and this welder sure makes some beautiful, clean and strong ...
