Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

You mentioned controller and Sabvoton controllers are most used controllers for hub motors on any brand ebikes which have hub motors ranging 2kw-3kw, 9kg-13kg in weight.

Re: DD Hub as a mid drive motor pros and cons?

To make it proper way new hub cover has to be CNCed. Other side than phase cables. Than it would be possible to install quite small sprockets, maybe ~20teeth.

Re: DD Hub as a mid drive motor pros and cons?

Is there an off the shelf sprocket that can mounted to the 6 bolt disc rotor holes? Or are the guys building these mid drives customizing motorcycle sprockets to fit on the hub side cover? https://www.velosolo.co.uk/shopdisc.html pitch is the same as 420 and 428 but these sprockets are thin bicycle...

Re: DD Hub as a mid drive motor pros and cons?

I made ~19t (updated teeth number) 428 sprocket sketch from paper over brake rotor. Precision is not there lightly to say, but no strength to do any sketch with AutoCAD lately.

Re: DD Hub as a mid drive motor pros and cons?

Regarding ''plate with the 44mm 6 bolt pattern to fit the disc rotor interface". yes, but consider few hundred Nm on these six 5mm bolts. [If these bolts where at least 6mm...] This adapter has to be the same thickness as brake rotor or barely thicker (everything is cramped there). Brake rotor ...

Re: Sabvoton controller issue

Not exactly an answer but usually when it used happen to me I would notice controller led light blinking signaling some error.
In my case it happened due bad connection in wiring.

BTW there is that delay after which you turn on controller and it starts to function after a few seconds.

Re: DD Hub as a mid drive motor pros and cons?

No off the shelf such sprockets. There are phase wires in that cover side coming out of the axle too. There is bearly enough space to install regular bicycle brake rotor. I see two options: On freewheel hub cover side bolt on sprocket 31teeeth by drilling holes in hub cover or CNC new cover-adapter ...

Re: Affordable controllers 2020 (for QS205 5T)

If you will go as much as possible stealth mode than consider KLS7218S. It's less powerful than sabvoton but smaller lighter and you can hide on on mountain bike frame.

There are Powervelocity controllers which I had no experience with therefore can't say how good they are.

Re: Affordable controllers 2020 (for QS205 5T)

apt and adappto are different controllers difference manufactures.
apt chinese, adappto russian I think.

If want best, get Nucular ~700usd or
BAC controller but even more money and somewhat more complicated adjustment.

Re: Affordable controllers 2020 (for QS205 5T)

yes, software is user friendly. They are ok for hub motors. If you put it in some light scooter with powerful hub motor (at least 3kw) and couple with high discharge battery than it is very fun machine.

Re: Affordable controllers 2020 (for QS205 5T)

Product Size: 346mm*148mm*76mm Net Weight: 5.9kg
It is huge piece of equipment. It is good for moped or motorcycle.

It would be better match with very fast winding of qs205 3kw (for example 17kv) or better match with qs273 4kw - qs273 8kw.

morse code" with the brake lever to disable the speed limit
sounds good.

Experimental vehicle owners exempt themselves from rules, otherwise not good to go.

Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

Indeed, strong frames are preferred for such powers and weight. Strictly policed regions requires ebike to be less noticeable. I assume that is the reason using mountain frame. Controller can be set to have few hundred watts. Setup has potential to be run at power above or within legal limit. Rider ...

okay, i'm almost done and got thanks to you all the information that i need to make a decision. just one last thought i need you opinion on. Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

Ok..so i'll definitely build a new battery soon. If i use just f.e. a cell with 20 amps CDR i'll need 10 parallel cells to get a battery pack with 200 amps continuous discharge and 20 serial cells to get nominal 72v right ? so 20s 10p at least ?? But i don't wanna change the topic. Batteries are a ...

Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

every motor has the same potential of torque or power but not every motor has the same potential of top speed yes, it has difference top speed. slower motor has more resistance and needs less amps to achieve the same torque. Anyways, 5t better for slow trails. 4t better for roads. 5t less amps hung...

Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

I think you already found many things. Next is - resistance. These 5T and 4T have different copper wire thickness, different copper wire length. That's the reason why one is slightly faster than the other. Yours simulation is alright. If we would take into consideration that different motors have di...

Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

They perform almost the same because they are the same motor but slightly with different Nm per amp. Look at different parameters in simulation, look at power, efficiency lines in graph too, it not all the same. One is faster, but to go faster you need more energy. 5T better in woods and for smaller...

Does someone know how to simulate a qs205 4T vs. 5T in the programm ? Couldn't find them.
simulate similar motor, mxus 45xx, can modify its values by entering different kv.

Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

If those starts from stand still so important than maybe better 5t plus you battery is small, otherwise it's not so important and faster gives you more speed. Basically it's the same motor. For weaker and smaller battery and bigger wheel 5t, if opposite is true than - faster motor. Choose according ...

Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

There is no right decision. Everywhere compromises. The same story. They use 5T (in subtitles says 7.5 but I doubt it, true strand number is their company secret :) ) because it is more acceleration with the same power compared to what they would get from 4T or 3T. But it does not mean that 4T or 3T...

Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

Sparfuchs, but don't be to too happy by higher Ts stroger acceleration either. Higher T means higher resistance (more copper turn around teeth) and higher resistance means you sooner reach temperature limit using the same power. So you get better acceleration but you reach temp limit sooner too. Wit...

Re: Again...3T, 4T, 5T, 6T difference

They didnt even mention the phase amps.. What point did they make, that a higher turn count will make more torque when it is less limited then the lower turn motor? There are a lot of threads about this, here is a recent one: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=109130 These la...
