Re: 80 new EV models from VW by 2025 !

Only religious electric revolution guys think that electric vehicles are anywhere near replacing gasoline. They cannot see the reality. And for those telling me to just get the new Tesla with the biggest battery, please send me 100 000$ and I will do so. But until then I have to use what works, my ...

Re: 80 new EV models from VW by 2025 !

It isn't complicated. You can buy an EV with a ~100kWh battery that does ~300miles on a charge. How that compares to the theoretical (not useable) energy density of a petroleum fuel is almost irrelevant. A current battery (bear in mind the rate at which battery tech is improving) stores much less e...

Re: Custom aluminum frame with 2.8kwh capacity

Sweet build! That is some really nice frame hack n slash work! I wish I had the skills and patience for that. Then widening the lower of the swingarm was crazy too! I would have put a larger front rim on the bike otherwise think its coming together nicely. They don't give you much room for those di...

I just wrote a long update with many details, just to see that the page updated and all dissapeared, oh well. I will re do a short summary. After a long week using all my spare time and more than that, I finally managed to take a test drive this morning. It has been a long couple of days tryng to fi...

Re: Custom aluminum frame with 2.8kwh capacity

You thought I had given up didnt you ;) ? I helped my little brother with his GNG kit and finally got the motivation needed to start again. What stopped me last time was lack of motivation to start truing the spokes and fit the battery pack to the bike. As always, I try to stuff too much in too smal...

Bumped version to 0.2, updated schematic, layout and 3d so its ready to prototype. I won't send it to mfg right away, the changes are very minor so I'll keep using the first version but I wanted to keep things ready just in case. Update from production + two of our test bikes One of the test bike has a 30Q pack and the other a 1 year old PF pack, low RPM is similar but the 30Q packs more punch higher in the RPM range, bigger power wheelies :) lmx-37.jpg Extremely well done, you have achieved what many dream of, making a liv...

Re: Assembled Hi-Power LiPo battery packs - any interest?

Well I have to say these FEP cells are pretty darn good. 30C continuous, 60 C burst, 158 Wh/kg and 335 Wh/l. Better than Turnigy individual cells, and the quality is certainly higher. I also tried their high energy density cells which are a ~2C continuous, 5 C burst; perfect where power and speed a...

Re: Assembled Hi-Power LiPo battery packs - any interest?

Hello Jones, What cell is in your opinion the best value, when you consider weight/cost/power density? Why did you go away from the 40c 5Ah Turnigy cell? I am trying to get up to speed on the best solution for light weight cells/battery. Maybe some hidden gems have been discovered since I read this ...

Got input on a frame design that I really liked. Every parts is cut out of aluminum with water or laser. J...

Re: What motor would you choose for a 25kw paramotor setup

Just got my package with pulleys and propeller. I choose HTD 5M 25mm since I got good experience with it from earlier projects and it is cheap for what it is. A bit on the heavy side, but I will trim them down a lot. Gearing will be 1:2.1 As you can see, the 130cm propeller is a bit larger than the ...

that's a really deep cut. sending shivers down my spine. :( but the result will be great. i still love those 20Ah cells. they perform so nicely, and are so easy to handle. Re: Custom aluminum frame with 2.8kwh capacity

More work has been done, but mostly planning and tinkering around how to safely incorporate a battery pack with enough compression. When I first made the frame I had four 90 degree aluminum angles welded to the frame that was there to hold the cells in t position, but I did not like the design and c...

Re: 1MWh (1000KWh) battery packs for large EVs

I used to do data center infrastructure design that would draw 16MW 24-7, and this was just hosting email. Larger data centers do >50MW power draw 24-7. It's not even a big deal to get a 50MW power drop, or a big deal to provide it. It feels like an impossible challenge if you're used to working in...
