Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

^^^ All very logical,..until he gets to the end point of these dramatic reduction in oil &Gas prices encouraging the change to “cheaper” energy sources , such as solar and wind, ?? If anything, a 50% reduction in primary fuel costs ( Natural Gas) , would most likely reduce the attraction of alterna...

Re: Legends dropping like flies

To compensate, he wore a custom, flat-front kicking shoe that ended where his toes were supposed to begin. Thats probably his technical advantage for the longest kick back in the day. Would that be allowed in todays NFL league? It's not probable, no proof it helped. Even after he held this record h...

Re: Help me electrify this cart?

The hub would be the simplest, but there's the problem of RPM. I brought up wheelchair motor because they push around close to the weight he wants at about the speed he wants. But the task of building will be more difficult.

Re: Help me electrify this cart?

300 pounds, maybe you want to go with a hub motor. More durable than the friction drive. Or maybe a wheelchair motor.

A guy with such birth defects having an NFL career and even setting records. Newsworthy without the Corona Virus being involved.

Re: Torquing the pedals on -- what special tool is needed?

I was 10-12 when I was getting the pedals on and off just fine. Short handled wrenches at that. 37 foot pounds ain't much. Out of curiosity is it both pedals that come loose, or always the same side? The thread direction reverses for the opposite sides, they should both be tightening as you pedal. T...

Hey, the part came today. I was hoping I'd found the one that would come quick. Now if I can get the new clips. The part and clip I made are doing fine. It's going well.

Re: haircut

Meanwhile, an update on Marty. Is the hair getting DANGEROUSLY long? Are dreadlocks in your future? So when my Dad came to this town before I was born, he started going to the guy that was still cutting mine when he retired. Newspaper coverage (Back when they were something) of that. So I started wi...

Glad you're sorted. My concern wasn't about how you would repair the linkage 'many ways to skin a cat' more that you could potentialy be without transport during a coronavirus lockdown. Yeah, no where to go, waiting for the California Governor Gruesome to issue shoot to kill orders if you're seen o...

I can drive until the next issue Yeah, I do believe that was the part of the statement you cut off. I'm actually doing most of my shifting without the clutch right now trying to forestall the next failure, but this is the most reinforced part I've made yet, I've got some alloy tubing from previous ...

Re: Trouble With the Car You're Still driving?

How have they failed? They don't last long until they break. Amazing the seeming stress level, though I assume the pedal wobbles about in a manner unintended anymore and that helps them break. The new clip will help hold it in place some, we'll see how much difference it makes. In fact, while all t...

Umm maybe the fact that I've already made several that way and they don't last. Re: Trouble With the Car You're Still driving?

Look at the delivery dates on the part you put up there. Mine comes next week, supposedly. I'd have paid twice that to have Dr. Who show up in his Tardis with it maybe before the factory part broke. It's on eBay for $12 with shipping but you never know how often they come through with their promised...

Re: Trouble With the Car You're Still driving?

Oh,my very first thought was how easily I could make it if only I hd the facility to put it together in. I've used mills and lathes, great stuff. So tempting to buy the cheap stuff at Harbor Freight or Northern Tools or whomever, but I don't have a regular use. I wanted to make that concrete mill wh...

Re: Trouble With the Car You're Still driving?

Ah, light at the end of the tunnel. The video explains the problem and shows the part I need. Of course I have to order it and wait, but at least it'll come SOMEDAY. The pedal assembly still seems wobbly.

Re: Trouble With the Car You're Still driving?

I wish I could find something conclusive on what it's supposed to be like under there. I see in the picture "Remove me or I will break." I think I have that piece broken so it lets the pedal come out too far, perhaps that's what is making the problem unsolvable. Or it's just another symptom. The fir...
