Re: Cured my wife's anxiety and my depression with nutritional supplements.

I work healthcare and your former comment I really agree with; medications outside of antibiotics/antivirals don't "cure" people, they really just alter the bodies' natural healing processes in a way that's beneficial. House of God by Samuel Shem has a great line how "The only thing that really fix...

(nodding furiously) Bone broth is serious business. I eat a lot of meat on the bone and i chew on marrow and the cartilage etc as well. Many westerners see this as gross, but they'll drink bone broth and take collagen powder, which is just a hyper processed version of the same thing, and much more e...

Re: Forum going down for maintenance today

You goofballs! Sorry about that, this thread is restored to the degree that it can be. This has happened once before to another thread while we've been running phpbb3.2.x. The weird thing is that there's always enough data to stitch the thread back together by hand in SQL, therefore we can't s...

Re: Delete facebook for the good of humanity!

Mark SuckerBurger (no spelling error there) surely (is a fact actually) has a mountain of info on people who have never been on fb. That's what the privacy badger plugin for google chrome and firefox is for. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/privacy-badger/pkehgijcmpdhfbdbbnkijodmdjhbjlgp?h...

Re: The future of our forum - facebook versus web forums

A program to resize images is kind of cheesy and we need software that will innately handle this for us for sure. Forking phpbb would be a pain. The forum had a revolt in 2011 or was it 2012? over commercialization, which i was a part of... Touchy subject, to say the least  We can talk about th...

Re: The future of our forum - facebook versus web forums

Oh you mean something that would resize images as they're being uploaded to make uploads easier. Yeah that's a huge code change and future maintenance nightmare that i'm not willing to take on. It's a key reason we want to get away from phpbb. it's shocking that phpbb hasn't added some basic code to...

Re: The future of our forum - facebook versus web forums

I feel your pain, I used to look after a phpbb forum or two for a few years. .... This resource is important enough to require a paid full time admin it is a shame that large corporations with vested interests can't spend peanuts (for them) to make that happen. I've done worse. Wordpress can be a b...

Re: The future of our forum - facebook versus web forums

I've actually written an addon to phpBB that does exactly that. However, testing the code to ensure it doesn't corrupt or degrade images in an unexpected way on a 40gb set of images is a holdup and takes dozens of hours :/ why? it wouldnt need (or want?) to be used on anything already uploaded to t...

Re: The keto thread

OMG, the crap that mainstream media continues to pull is outrageous. The doctor interviewed is a member of an organization that's funded by barilla pasta, several vegan propaganda groups, vegan food producers, etc. The article is written in a way that it appears balanced, using a couple solid facts,...

Re: The future of our forum - facebook versus web forums

See the last topic I started in the moderator forum. I gave 4 example solutions. Any one can be put into effect by an admin in 1 minute. Sorry for not seeing that, i'll check it out. Edit: looks like fechter handled that, correct? There are so many sites that are much more user friendly. I suspect ...

Re: The future of our forum - facebook versus web forums

Sigh, the new v3.3.x might help with that, but it might also delay us in transitioning to another format for a while :/ I just got back from vacation and my life has been crazy over the last year... when things get situated, i'll have to investigate... it sucks that these spammers have a way around ...

Re: The future of our forum - facebook versus web forums

phpbb3.3 is out after 3 years, but doesn't contain much useful stuff for us other than emoji support, different notifications, and a bit better spam protection. I understand that most of the work internally is a big refactoring. Pretty disappointed :x I am a one man software developer working on a l...

I am in no position to promise anything right now, just know that i am silently agreeing with most of you, and am touched that a bunch of people still care about this place after all these years.

keep the feedback coming, please.

Re: High performance & durability Cannondale Semi Recumbent

CBD is not a COX2 inhibitor. I wasn't suggesting it as a curative but merely as a potentially better way to relieve inflammation and pain than the ibuprofen that you were taking ... apparently to no notable benefit. Understood, i wish it worked better... i've got a nice supplement stack that works ...

Re: High performance & durability Cannondale Semi Recumbent

I've never had notable relief from CBD, ibuprofen, etc. Almost every anti inflammatory will prevent natural cartilage repair and growth ( look up PGE2 and the COX2 pathway ), so ideally you don't want that.. it's like repeatedly throwing new tires on a car that's got a severe alignment problem. The ...

Re: When Windows 7 is dead in 2020 what OS will you migrate to??

re PSUs, you'd be surprised at how little power modern hardware requires.. it will only get lower over time. My gaming rig has a high efficiency rated 250w seasonic power supply that powers 2 SSDs, a Nvidia 1060, and a 3.5ghz intel quad core from 2013, which is a watt guzzler compared to say, a newe...

Re: Warning about Endless Sphere from Firefox

A lot of low budget operations ( raises hand ) use free letsencrypt certificates, and they expire every 3 months. Setting them to auto renew can be fraught with problems. Notifications can be missed if things aren't set right.

A lot of webmasters drop the ball here and i'm sorry we did.
