Removing the tube doesn't change the failure mechanism at all. Just changes how you fix it.

I would rather replace a tube and get back to riding than wait for the tire seal to have an adequate bond to the tire though.

Re: The keto thread

caffiene will suppress hunger by boosting up lots of metabolic hormones.. but what comes up must come down.. i wouldn't take caffiene for that purpose.. it's easier to drop down to 0-10 carbs/day and let the ketones do their magic to your appetite.. or just count calories. Because i have the metabol...

Those cheese singles provide a form of suspension and protection in themselves in exchange for a big increase in rolling resistance.
You go this route if the benefits exceed the drawbacks for your use case. :)

Re: Move to XenForo software

Many phpbb anti spam plugins no longer work.. and spammers come in waves. Our anti spam systems are simplistic and other options are not effective or feasible for moderator time. ..another reason why we're moving! Xenforo's got the anti spam features nailed down pretty good! i don't want our moderat...

It may be a few weeks until i can get started on the ES project again. But the rest is easy and the end is in sight. Another ride. This was 180 miles round trip (stayed overnight in Long Beach.) Killer. THREE flat tires. I only had one spare tube. I stopped after the first flat and tried to get another spare tube but the MTB shop didn't have any 26" tires (everyone uses 29ers these days.) Fortunately they di...

We need things like that. We may have it soon. Molnupiravir (an antiviral) is about to be submitted for approval to the FDA. It cuts hospital admissions and deaths in half in unvaccinated people with COVID. I want to be hopeful, but.. Molnupiravir works by interfering with viral DNA production. I k...

Re: four failed smart bms's

I lowered the overvoltage and pack overvoltage parameters whilst the pack was fully charged. Could it be that that could have tripped the overvoltage switches and either damaged the board or somehow switched off the battery. Going to run it without the bms to lower the voltage and then reconnect an...

Re: File attachments pruned - let me know if you see missing images.

I have some after the fact analysis on this after looking at phpbb's code. phpbb has a feature to prune unused images, but is not fully accurate at establishing what was in the database and what was not.. Therefore it would occasionally sacrifice a file for no percievable reason. In an attempt to sa...

Re: Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

My bet is we'll see low C rates on charge and discharge, that's been the case with a lot of early spec sheets i've seen. However if we're talking about a doubling of whrs/kg then a halving of C rate isn't so bad if you want a really large capacity ( i'm in that camp ). A quartering of C rate? well t...

Re: Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

Nice.

We're seeing lots of competition in the battery space.. i think seeing 300whr/kg next year is very possible.. 400whr/kg very possible in less than 5 years. There's such a crazy rush to build the next best battery that i'm sure one of these companies is going to land a product.

So i had to write a poor man's profiler to get to the bottom of this. Re: Moving servers today

I'm not convinced that such per post limits are effective... it is easy to circumvent by just posting another reply to a thread with additional images. It can be annoying if someone wanted to post a new complete build thread of their project rather than a thread added to over days or weeks. They're...

Nice. Very smart on the NHS for looking into new/repurposed treatments more than any of their peers. In the phase III clinical trial of ronapreve aka regeneron, they said it reduced the hospital stay from 3 weeks to 1 week. Now imagine if you can roll that out across the world and then no longer hav...

Re: Rewind a cyclone 3kw motor for more power ?

Obviously, there is a practical limit to that, but: Just it is said, by rewinding the motor to 2x speed you can *nearly* get same torque at same heat loss (amps times phase resistance)... but than you have a motor with 2x top speed allowing you to slap on 2x mechanical gear reduction, that DOUBLES ...

Regen can be awesome if you have a strong pack. Used to use hobbyking lipos, with a 5C charge rate. No problem dumping 1000W into them. Fark. The testing is only halfway done. WTF
It turns out using exiftool to detect jpeg rotation puts a >3x penalty on the speed of the process.
Process completion time is more like a week, instead of 29 hours.

Time to optimize further.

That's why systems like phpbb and xenforo are designed to put limits in at the stage of uploading. Which can be inconvenient to the user.
