Re: Xiongda YTW-06 mini hub motor

Yeah, for your use you could certainly get away with overpowering the motor. When i use the term 'continuous', i mean literally running the motor at that power level for 24 hours, IE it will sustain that indefinitely. So there's lots of wiggle room between cooling and heating cycles in the kind of r...

Re: The poor mans cycle satiator

I like it. I still have my old Meanwell SP, and have been looking for sort of a higher powered alternative to my cycle satiator. In all honesty, if grin released a >500W cycle satiator, i'd be all over it just for the nice overall package, high efficiency, etc. But this is as close as you're gonna g...

Re: Xiongda YTW-06 mini hub motor

Here is the power graph, just for reference. The maximum efficiency point is 333W on 36 volts / 11.1A on this ~230rpm wound motor pictured. I believe that this motor may handle 350-400 watts continuously on 36 volts. 48 volts might put you in 450-500 watt continuous territory in a 26 inch wheel or s...

Re: Xiongda YTW-06 mini hub motor

Kinda sad to hear that it's on the loud side with a FOC controller. I'm sure that the higher pitch is more audible, due to the high rpm and how the human ear works.
I expect other dual reduction motors to have the same effect.

If anyone can get a video of the noise, that'd be really helpful.

Re: Luna Black Box: anyone tried it yet?

That's kinda cool, but why? A used computer + the correct controller is cheaper than this. $50 computers are everywhere. I'll admit, rolling my bike over to my desktop/laptop computer and dangling a cord out is a pain in the ass, but i wouldn't pay $150 and buy a piece of hardware that's specific to...

Re: is this site legit? recycles-ebike.com

Geez.. LG rates the F1L cell at 0.2C. Which means that an ideal pack size for a continuous 30 amp draw is more like 150AH. The optimistic 'vaping rating' is 4.8A. That pack would sag like crazy even on 20A. There are high capacity cells that are rated for 1-2C out there. No idea why this cell would ...

Re: MNKE IMR-26650 and Queen Battery QB26650 discharge test

Excellent little test. Yeah, its rather sad that we dont have good 26650s available to the hobbyist these days huh? I've always wanted to build a pack with some, for the sake of simplicity, but its just not happenning. Seems like the 2070 is the next best thing.

Re: My experience with "leafbike" electric bike kit

Their kits are terrible. I wouldn't touch them. The controllers are not matched to the motor's continuous capabilities, and as far as i know, not programmable. That 1000W motor is wound WAY too fast ( 40mph winding, which requires 2000W continuous, on a 1000W motor? WTF? ) That being said the 1500W ...

Re: Xiongda YTW-06 mini hub motor

neptronix, I'd be very interested in seeing what you build with this motor. So I special-ordered this motor with a 120mm width axle since I'm using it in a single-speed. But the motor comes stock for 135mm dropouts and uses a 6 to 7-speed freewheel—no cassette version as of right now. I think a few...

Re: Xiongda YTW-06 mini hub motor

Hello, here is a video from the motor 290rpm, freewheel not so good: https://youtu.be/PpaGfM4vh8s The battery is 36V, the engine has a lot of power, on the mountain too, makes more noise at idle as in operation and under load, freewheel a bit stiff but maybe that will get better with time? Sorry my...

Awesome! thanks for your report on this. I've really been thinking about building up a 700c wheel bike with one of these for months. This motor looks like just the ticket. 3lbs is freaking sweet. Can you do this thread a favor and upload a quick video of you spinning the wheel forward and backwards ...

Re: The end of BionX?

It sucks to see an original die, but i won't miss them. Bionx was the first kit i saw in late 2008 in California, when ebikes were just starting to get popular. Local dealers were asking $1000 for their 250w or was it.. 350w? kit. And that's without battery. There was nothing else on the shelves of ...

I have access to a twin CPU Xeon e5 2603v4 6-core with 256GB RAM and an Nvidia quadro M4000 graphics card with free electricity that's sat idle 99% of the time. Would this be any use? I don't doubt the utility of Ethereum - it sounds like it's doing what bitcoin was promising/ought to have been doing. It satisfies a demand (low cost, easy global transactions) and is practical for everyday use (fast, cheap). Well actually, ethereum has been failing to do what bitcoin promised to ...

Sidenote: Amazon was a very smart investment with hindsight, but was it in the early days? Plenty of very similar startups went to the wall and retrospectively were an awful investment.
