Synergie full suspension ebike project UK

Synergy electric mountain bike, dual suspension, aluminium frame, 24 Volt geared hub motor in front wheel. I've upgraded the controller to a 500W one which helped me get up the steepest hills. The motor is getting noisy and needs a service. I made my own battery for this but it is not included in th...

Interesting canoe paddle with motor..

This paddle turned up at my work, I thought it might be of interest, or somebody might know who made it.. It has a motor in the bulbous part of the paddle, a simple thumb switch in the handle and can be connected to a car battery. The prop is a model aircraft variety and seems to have a limited slip...

Re: E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

I had the same problem with mine. It seems the MSU has switched it on permanently. There could be a relay in there that's seized but I think they might be mosfet controlled, my MSU is potted in epoxy so no way of fixing it . I ended up rewiring the brake light so the always on brake powered the rear...

Re: E-max 110 headlight mystery

Hi Kevin, the Sevcons are very good controllers, I would stick with it unless you are desperate for more speed. 80A is the battery side current, 450A is the max phase current it can put through the motor wires but it is probably limited to well below this . The 60V 40A pack you mentioned would need ...

Re: E-max 110 headlight mystery

Thanks friendly1uk, I had come to that conclusion my self I'll try the capacitor. Hi Kevin 1963, I think it would be unwise to over volt the existing controller. I believe they ay are Sevcon models in the newer E-max and voltage depends on the model installed. If you can find out which one it is tha...

Re: E-max 110 headlight mystery

Thanks for the links Amberwolf. My replacement LED bulbs would work if the bike had a standard 12v DC motorcycle type wiring loom, instead it has a central "black box" which all the switch gear and lighting is connected to. I would just like to know what AC or PWM signal it is putting out to light t...

E-max 110 headlight mystery

I'm trying to retrofit some H3 LED bulbs, It turns out the lighting system is some sort of AC :? I tried putting a voltmeter across the bulb and I get a voltage reading of roughly 2.6V AC, there is also a buzzing when they are switched on. The dipped and main beam are different brightness (same 12V ...

Re: Gogoro scooter

They may have dialled up the power limits for the expo :D

I think thew battery swap would work great for the pizza delivery outfits and postal services, that's where it would make a big difference, the sooner they get all those 2 stroke engines out of towns and cities the easier we can breathe.

Gogoro scooter

You might have seen reports of this from CES, I'm not too fussed about the battery swap + infrastucture (seems a bit far off), but the engineering of the scoot looks good, have a look at the graphic of the drive train on their site: http://www.gogoro.com/#/faster Water cooled motor, monocoque frame ...

I understand these controllers were intended for scooter OEMs , I would like to get a 6 phase motor and dual controller system like yours but my scooter has a single sided swing arm, so I'm stuck with my motor for now :(

Re: Looking for a perfect motor controller? gather here

Good work Bluefang 8) Mine is working up to capacity pushing a heavy scooter, the controller only gets warm but the 6awg phase wires get quite hot . I have my phase current set to 150A rated/300A max should I reduce these setings and how will that affect the field weakening acceleration? Don't forge...

Mine were from the dodgy Victpower. There are other sources now but probably more expensive, you might also want to look at Nissan leaf cells.

Re: E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

Can anyone tell me how the headlight system is powered on the e-max? I wanted to try some LED H3 bulbs for the headlights but they seem to operate on some sort of AC , my meter only reads 2.7V across the main bulb in both AC and DC modes, there is also a buzzing sound when they are on. The brake lig...

Re: Sabvoton SVMC072150 controller review, variable regen *P

I wonder if the breaker trips at full current if the back EMF will be properly controlled, or if damage might result to anything. In brushed motors, at least, disconnection of battery from controller can be disastrous, because the collapsing fields of the motor can backlash very high voltage spikes...

Shame batteries are flat, although would be too good to be true if they weren't knackered! Otherwise I'd be in for a group purchase...... If they are the Sodium Nickel Chloride ones they can tolerate being run flat, they solidify and then need to be 'thawed'. It's a chemeistry that only works if yo...

Re: E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

There is a cross section of the motor at the bottom of this page: http://www.proud-eagle.com/pro3.asp you can see how the backplate and bearing meet the axle,it will take a lot of force to remove it because the magnets are trying to hold the stator in the case, a bearing puller would help, give your...

Re: E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

Hi costicuta,
I have set regen current in my Sabvoton software so it takes maximum 80A phase current for ebraking and 25A when I release the throttle, I see it go up to -2.5KW on my CA when I brake hard.

I'm not sure how you set it in Kelly software, is it a percentage of your maximum current?

Re: E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

It should be possible to get at the back of the stator, you have to remove the motor from the swingarm and pull the back plate off the rear bearing. I found the regen was causing the keyway on the axle to move back and forth under acceleration/deceleration so I ended up using some scotchweld DP460 e...
