Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

525 dollars for the X-controller with the same power as the stock controller? I guess that white spray painted X on
the front is pretty cool. I'd buy one.

I have gone by the "that looks like it would be strong enough" approach in the past, but these days you do finite analysis on the computer model.

I used to make billet swingarms and frames. The swingarm weighed 1 kg without hardware.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I guess I am going to have to do something with a swingarm also, since I want to put a 16 inch rear tire on it like the bigger rear wheel in this picture. the front wheel is a 19 inch like the Sur-ron has on it already. A stock 85 (shown) is a 14/17 wheel size combo. honda-cr85-big-wheel-motocross-b...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I have the same shock but haven't tried it yet. It does have more travel at 3.5" vs the stock 3" on the Fast Ace.

I bought it because I can remake the spring retainer end with the proper eye to eye length to balance out the 280mm travel
WP AER 43mm forks.

Looks like $250 difference. OK. We discussed it and decided not to do the 4000. Luna can do the 4000.

I think it was about $100 more for the 8000. We did talk about the 4000 and Martin said we should use the 8000

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

You motor heads should look at the data from ASI. It says a lot about the Sur-ron motor. 10 hp is all we are looking at maximum. Yeah, with 20s there is some more power, but 10 hp is all we can expect. Which is double what we get stock. It's interesting to me that the best numbers are at about 2000 ...

Maybe with 30 ft/lbs of torque at the motor there is 220 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheel of the Sur-ron?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I have been looking at what ERT has been doing and 6.5 kWs is about right for the Sur-ron motor. We got 7770 watts of mechanical power out of the motor on my visit to ASI at 60 volts. An interesting note is that we got 30 ft/lbs of torque out of the motor where a 250cc motocross bike makes only abou...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

On a bike this size, 5 or 10 times the stock power would be great fun.

It's roughly the same size as a big wheel 85cc motocrosser. They have about 20 -25 hp.

Why not have a 40 hp electric the same size?

I think it's because I am having them ship it to ASI so that they can finalize the tuning and make wiring harnesses so that
we all can have fast bikes. Since it is not Luna, they want to put the brakes on it, especially because it is me doing it.
