Re: AVIAN featherweight mid drive

Cool battery pack!

Are the holders/connectors made of aluminum? If so what about oxidation? Aluminum oxide is a insulator. I guess you could sand before assembly and hope it stays air tight...

Maybe you know this and they are nickel plated copper? :)

Re: What's the point of 1000+W ebikes ?

You can't "California Roll" stop signs on a motorcycle anymore without getting fined (If you do it often and daily) Il-legal ebikes are now the fastest way to get from point a to b. Officers aren't stupid they know your fugly ebike is above the legal limit but jaded officers know the difference betw...

Lucky the killacycle didn't actual kill bill (Billy Dube) When I worked on a drag bike we had a push button where your thumb goes on the handlebar. If you didn't press the push button continuously while using the throttle; the throttle would not work. Also protected from idiots coming up and crankin...

Re: Preowned Model S at EXTREMELY low cost

actually the depreciation is much less than similar BMW's and Merc's very strong used car market. A shit ton of <40k teslas sold out in 1 day. Now they added a few more Tesla is very smart with their CPO's....it costs them nothing to enable autopilot, ludicrous mode, and bump the pack capacity, etc....

Re: Preowned Model S at EXTREMELY low cost

If you plan on keeping the car a while the best one to get is the 85D. The first gen RWD drivetrain (P or not) has issues. The 90/100/late70/late75 packs have cells sprinkled with silicon that seem to be degrading faster than they should be if you supercharge often so they are tapering the charge ve...

Re: Post your DRAG RACE ebike run !!

I don't need money. It's the hassle that's an issue, so pass your own hat to get the funds together to make the bet, which is the one thing I'll overcome the hassle. If you lose then I'll give you a more than even chance to win it back by going double-or-nothing against my little electric scooter. ...

Sorry to hear about the fire. Unfortunately a safer battery with passive thermal runaway protection and flame arrestors increase cost 2-5x over all the horribly dangerous packs available on the market A safer pack design also adds tons of weight Here is a better design but again it adds weight Note ...

Re: Lebowski's motor controller IC, schematic & setup, new v

Not sure I agree with this. Cogging means torque ripple and in certain apps torque ripple needs to be minimized. You can "smooth" the torque ripple of a motor that cogs at steady speed with a custom motor controller but not while the speed is changing. You can also mechanically smooth torque ripple ...

Max allow temp also depends on your controller Power advance (flux weakening) It must be tested with the stator in place Baseline test is unpowered with motor naturally aligned (lowest resistance flux return path). Put motor in oven until entire motor at same temp. Remove motor from oven and allow t...
