Electric Snow Blower (Gravely)

Hi Guys, Just wanted to share some build pictures and a video of my 1972 2 wheel tractor conversion. The motor is a Heinzman PMS-126 that I bought here a couple years ago. Sevcon Gen4 size 6 drive is overkill but this is what I had on hand. I use my bike battery that is 24S11P li-ion of LG HG2 Clean...

Re: What got you into electric?

I was flying RC helicopters electric started being ''affordable'' and powerful enough to convert to electric. What an improvement ! 1- No vibrations 2- A lot simpler 3- Way less maintenance 4- Quieter 5- More powerful 6- More reliable If it does the same for cars, ice cars are more than in serious t...

You can add A+B ?

This way a 2wd system can be analysed

Thanks for taking time to educate me (I did not take time to do thorough tough about the whole system)

Re: New 2017 updates to ebikes.ca motor simulator to try out

Just to be sure, can you confirm 1kv x 2V x 1A = 2kv x 1V x 2A This way we keep the same rpm and same torque It's just the the kv adjustment is limited and wish to experiment a hub as mid drive maybe wind it with 1T instead of 5T but gear it inversly I can generate then 5x the power knowing that a m...

Re: Post your DRAG RACE ebike run !!

Félicitations ! You know that but I feel compelled to tell anyway : Drag race is all about the start, dont go too far with gearing. Did you experiment with field weakening ? Maybe it can allow you to keep high ratio gearing( belt) and still gain speed at the end. But chances are that you already did...

Re: 45% efficient F1 ICE engine ?

They claim 45% efficiency and 50% with energy recovery systems Toyota Prius engine claim 40% thermal efficiency. Seem plausible to me. this is a 12.5% improvment, it's a lot but not impossible. also it's within Otto cycle theorical max thermal efficiency. Mercedes certainly wont substanciate how it'...

Re: Throttle pulsing when light is plugged in to CA

I have the same problem but without light or other device other than throttle, battery, speed sensor and shunt.

When speed goes aywire, the throlttle output shut down.
and I get 647km/h ou whatever impossible max speed.

About wheelly bar, why not adjust/program the max torque output to be just right ?
This way you get max acceleration. Just nail the accelerator and wait.

Toyota prius does that with it's 2 motors and engine
When you go to basics, It's a common differential, just setup differently.

Re: Displacement factor of Hub motor

The power factor varies with load.
I think that you will have to model the motor
you can use emetor.com
You will be able to see an estimation of it when you use sinusoidal current
I would use 60% worst case scenario so you have to beef things by 1.66 x

Maybe Justin from ebikes.ca can help here

Re: Rc Twin Mid Drive

My reduction is lasercut and I welded bracket to the frame 100$ I think that you would have to do something similar to lightningrod. The drive, is not that cheap but is really small, 150$ Motor is 75 $ Maybe 300$ worth of bearings, pulleys, shaft and belts. Plus bolts, nuts and wiring. maybe 100$ A ...

Re: Rc Twin Mid Drive

I am running SK3 6374 149kv. you can go with 162 or 192 kv. There is enough torque for that. Acceleration may suffer. I am contemplating 192kv but I cant recommend it since I dont have experience with this setup. They run great on VESC and 12S I top out at 80A phase current before running faults on ...

Re: Rc Twin Mid Drive

The space between cell is to ''shape'' the pack to fit inside the bag. It was too high and I had some lenght left so by spacing them I was able to reduce high at the expense of lenght. A side benefit help cooling. But maybe I dont need cooling since I draw a fraction of what those cell are capable. ...

Re: Xnova 8kw rc middrive first test

Check for flex in your gearbox/swingarm I did something remotly similar. By pinching the belt I can see were things flex. I can pass 5000W input without skipping but my belt reduction flex quite a bit and it's near skipping. I will make it more stiff. Stiff is you friend for belts. They pull quite a...

It's surprising that the cell that are fully charged at 4.2 volts keep going way better than the 2 others that are no fully charged.
Slow charge to full 4.2V seem good. this is surprising.
Nice tests
