Re: eBike light reccomendation

I had little cash when I built my e-bike. First I got a Bell headlight from K-mart - thinking it was a good deal - came with a tail light for 15 bucks. It's garbage I soon found out. Next at a trade show I got a 100 LED flashlight for 20 bucks. This LED flashlight works great though not as bright a...

Do you use a fuse or circuit breaker?

This is something I never thought about because we never used to use them in the R/C world years ago. Most of the wires are out in the open so I just didn't use one. What say you.

And surefire is not immune to problems just because of the price.I have a few L4's and they all had switch problems. They were covered under warranty but at $150.00 a pop I would think so.

Re: Best all round light for night biking.

Yeah the spiderfire does have a good flood beam.

Rember that a light with 900 L is not twice as bright as one with 450L.

In fact I can't tell the difference between 400L and 600L

Re: Drum type brakes

I suppose why they do not have covers is that they would be an inconvenience. A cover would reduce cooling air flow. I suspect that the drum brakes would be more susceptible to fade, though I haven't used them to know. That's another reason why 2 types of brakes are an advantage. They both have diff...

Re: eBike light reccomendation

That light is about 100 lumens out the front.I find lights in the 400-600 range better for my old eyes. Also a bright and wide spill seems to help with the speeds some or us are going(25MPH and up,not me of course I keep it legal  )

I was going to get eggs from a friends house about 2 mi. outside of town today. It was a rainy pissy upstate NY day but not raining when I left. While at my friends house it started raining and on the way home I had to make a quick stop when a guy backed out of his driveway.I hit the front brake and f...

Re: Best all round light for night biking.

Ypedal what is the 2nd to last light on the left? does that hold 2 18650's? That's an UltraFire WF-500 Xenon. good and bright, more of a yellow light compared to the LED's.. It will run on a single 18650, or a combination of cells with or without the tube extender. http://www.dealextreme.com/detail...

Re: Best all round light for night biking.

I agree with alan B.1000 L is what I call the limit with respect to a sensible light. I can't find the thread but the highest priced light is 8K(I think it was 4200L HID). I tent to use the older style (2 or 3 years old) LEDS.P7 and MC-E are still capable of good beams.some of the new 6 and 9 die em...

rebelpiolot

The battery should be fine(0V).When they drop below 2.5 V the battery shuts off. When you put it in the charger it resets .These chargers charge to about 95%.Something like 4.16-4.18 V.But they're soooo cheap if it brakes or gets lost so what.I've own 2 for 2 years now and no problems.

It looks like Ypedal might have gotten bit by the bug.

BE CAREFUL YOU MIGHT END UP SPENDING MORE ON LIGHTS THAN BIKE STUFF.

Dealextreme does sometimes ship fast and sometimes slow, but I always got the stuff.

Have fun guys and hang on to your wallet.

Any thoughts on this light? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.36356 I'm sure it's not quite as great a light, but it is $13 cheaper. That light uses a P26 type drop in.The good thing is it's EZ to change drop ins ,the bad is that some drop ins have trouble moving heat from the dro...

Re: Bike selection for ebike kit.

Cruiser style bikes are cool but a PITA to make right.I built one and the biggest problem was mounting a front brake. The coaster brake with the big fat tire stops ok for 99% of the time but that other 1% you'll need a front brake. I would go in another direction if you're gunna use it for commuting....

Re: need a new fork for my beach cruiser.

Well I don't need a fork after all.I got these side pull brakes (Tektro # 324) a while ago and couldn't get them to fit right.I drilled a hole further up the fork and they work fine. They're a large brake and flex a lot so the pad hit my nice whitewall and left a black mark but that cleaned up.Maybe ...

I wonder if it uses the Eneloop type Ni Mh battery. If so they are a great battery.Low self discharge and even the AA cell can handle 5A discharge without much voltage sag. A lot of us on another forum thought if they came out with a D cell it would be 8 AH with 20A discharge! Can charge in 15 mins. ...

There was a guy selling magnets with a wire soldered to them on candlepowerforums and they work well. You can also use a cheap plastic type clamp(that's what I do)If you want to do a lot of cells at a time I roll up cardboard and make a tube so the batts fit in it and use the plastic clamp also. more...
