Re: Experience with Frogzskins for venting?

I certainly do not have experience with those. But in my experience with ICE motors, in general, I understand that they create vacuum all on their own, which, in this case, makes air flow through a material through which snow/water does not. I do not see a situation in a battery that would allow ai...

Re: PV NextGen Controller FOC compact 150v 22kw Max - $499

Will likely be something simple like XT150 for phases and xt90 for the battery. Not yet decided on signal connectors. Any suggestions? I prefer Anderson SB series which have robust options for waterproofing as well as color-coding to prevent mix-ups with charging/discharging. Trouble for eBikes is ...

Re: Experience with Frogzskins for venting?

Materials that pass vapor (humidity) but seal against liquid water tend to work like 1 way traps to steadily accumulate condensation inside a device. Perhaps in theory you are correct. But I mention this only because this technology is used extensively by snowmobilers (who know a thing or two about...

Re: Experience with Frogzskins for venting?

I'm not quite understanding the use case that you are suggesting. Could you elaborate on what function you are seeking from this material? Just to let cool air in and warm air out of the battery box. Keep in mind, this stuff is waterproof, so you could build a "sealed" box but then let the heat out...

Experience with Frogzskins for venting?

Anybody have any experience with using Frogzskins for venting your battery box? Seems to be an ideal solution for us. see: https://www.amazon.com/Straightline-Performance-Frogzskin-Universal-Rectangle/dp/B003CJW8LK https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51-7GrVOXHL._SL1201_.jpg Michael

Decent specs. Appears to be only one brake handle and no foot brake either -- 100% regen braking perhaps? 1000 smart people might have left them alone, but 100s still got ripped off. Agree 100%. But it leaves a really bad taste in the mouth. The good news is that some are starting to rise above the fray -- most are run by either Westerners or those who grew up in the west, for whom your reputation is e...

When i see false claims from vendors, i tend to step away. It is a sign of more bullshit to come as an owner. What else were they not being honest about? Something the Chinese don't yet understand about (web-savvy) American buyers. They assume "there is a sucker born every minute and two to take th...

Re: Crimping connectors

The big Anderson connectors can be crimped with the right (expensive) tool. Anderson's can also be crimped using an inexpensive hammer lug crimp tool such as this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C9FT9Z6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00 . Note 1: I personally use the above item and like it a...

Petersen Museum Electric Motorcycles Exhibit

I was in Los Angeles over the weekend to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday and I wanted to see the Electric Motorcycle Exhibit at the Petersen Museum in downtown LA. While there are only 20 EMs on display I must say I was impressed at the detail that goes into these machines. See the following r...

Have you looked for any shorts post BMS?
i.e. not the battery side of the BMS but the load side.

Of course, it could be a situation that only reveals itself when in motion or going over a bump...

They do... but according to their website, 8/10/12kw all have the same torque, which doesn't sound right to me. Can you say: "cut and paste"? :P Also found this regarding V4 vs other versions: High quality of silicon steel raw materials, customized and enlarged groove make more copper wire into mot...
